American First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln was born #OnThisDay in 1818. This c. 1862-4 green and cream woollen plaid dress (which has a matching cape) is believed to have been made for Lincoln by African American dressmaker Elizabeth Keckly. Chicago Museums collection. #FirstLady #fashionhistory
