I refuse to accept the argument that the president has plenary power to demolish any historic government building without consulting Congress and without using appropriated funds, including the White House. You're saying he could level the whole WH and build Mar-a-Lago 2 if he wanted to.
Has anyone in Congress even uttered the word "impeachment"? This is a flagrant crime, one that most Americans would support being punished. At least make the House and Senate Republicans defend this tragedy in the record.
Great job, guys. Really nailed the reporting here.
Congress has ceased to function and the president is illegally repurposing funds to pay the military. So not even worth discussing impeachment?

Not even, "On what legal basis..." but, rather, "Given that this likely would constitute an illegal transfer of public dollars to you, the sort of thing kings have done in the past, how do you justify such an action?" Or some such.
Great job, guys. Solid work.
I see it like this: if Congress decided to stand down the entire military, they would defund it. And the president stealing funds from anything else would mean he's a dictator.
Democrats hate the voters, but Republicans HATE the voters.
Great job, buddy. You really nailed this one.
This whole article is shocking in its whitewashing, but the @nytimes.com is almost criminal in saying "bending the rules" instead of a full, intentional, ongoing violation of Article I of the Constitution.

He said something to that effect on his first term. I can't find it because the recent news is obscuring all results, but he said something like the WH was an old dump and people were outraged. I recall it was shortly after his inaug in 2016?
I knew those original renderings were bullshit! They didn't make any sense. This was the plan the entire time.
Wild how that is almost exactly the number the White House renovations are costing.
I think the worst thing about this is he likely deprived an animator of a lucrative gig.
We're buying toxic assets with no oversight. They crucified Obama over TARP, but now Congress isn't even involved.
This is reddit thinking. Some rando insider making millions means the tide is sinking and everyone else suffers.
Hold up, are you saying the feds dumping money into hiring just anyone led to the feds hiring just anyone?

The White House keeps making a big deal of the fact that the ballroom is privately funded but that’s one of the worst things about it.

These people and companies are buying influence. None of this is okay.
Loans by fiat are bad loans.
I'm guessing PA, but why?
