Citizens Advice centres do incredible work and this statistic is a stark insight into how much that work is needed. #Dorset
Every quarter we do quite a lot of statistical analysis. Some statistics stand out, like this one: in quarter one of 2025-2026 our Weymouth office worked with 37% more clients than in the same period of 2024-25.
No extra space.
No extra money.
Many, many thanks to our wonderful volunteers.

What is a School of Sanctuary as 'Valentine's Day card' claims debunked
It comes amid claims that children were being forced to write Valentine's Day cards to migrant men

Coffee with Bonhoeffer.
Enjoyed a visit to this social enterprise with a big heart for its local community in Cirencester. Great project making great use of the old department store; ethical trading, good food, common table, pay what you can, worth visiting.

This little wander was delightful; and on the day of announcement that St John Henry Newman will be declared a doctor of the church, added interest to see this chapel where he went to Mass following his reception into Roman Catholicism.
On the feast of St Ignatius, a moment to visit this chapel in #Oxford The first Roman Catholic place of worship in the city after the Reformation. Built by Fr Charles Leslie SJ in 1793, set back from the road on St Clement's St next to the Port Mahon pub.

Really good to be back at #Tolpuddle for the rally after a gap of a few years, and to spend time at @tolpuddleoct.bsky.social, recently restored and finding new life.

If you’re in #Tolpuddle for the rally next weekend I plan on hanging out on Sunday afternoon with friends at the chapel, a key site for the history of trades unions and social justice in the UK. See you there!
The Martyrs Festival takes place over the weekend 18th - 20th. July. Do come along and it's FREE entry on the Sunday. Whilst there, make your way down the village (past the Martyrs Inn) and pay a visit to the Tolpuddle Old Chapel. There is plenty going on. Please see the flyer for further info.

Before Saltaire and Bournville there was Swindon Railway Village (with a pub on every other corner). Great conversation about the challenges and excitement of a community-led restoration project for the Mechanics Institute which has been vacant since 1986.

A Terribly Serious Adventure; engaging & enjoyable crash course in the philosophy I didn’t read as a philosophy student many years ago.

Great Somerford in the cool of the evening & Britain's first allotments.
Enclosure of common land reduced the amount of land available to the poor. Stephen Demainbray, rector 1799–1854 successfully lobbied the King to spare part of his parish from the Great Somerford Inclosure Act 1806.

Enjoyed the #Glastonbury coverage and lots of county flags; Somerset, Devon, Wiltshire, Cornwall. But failed to spot any from #Dorset. Has the poor cross of St Wite been forgotten already?

Whistler’s later work, his incredible etched glass for the church in Moreton #Dorset, would be much better, but this little panel @campionhall.bsky.social was probably his first commissioned piece around 1936.

Came upon an open door in Bath and wandered into a wonderful piece of charity history; St John’s Foundation established 1174 and still serving the needs of local people. Lovely buildings, fantastic history.
