Yuki onna is a fearful #yokai appearing on snowy winter nights. She glides across the snow with her blue lips and transparent skin. Her icy gaze can be deadly and she will suck the life force out of you and leave you to die in the snow.

This and Masefield's Box of Delights - the wolves are running!
You know what’s ripe for a comeback is the Wolves of Willoughby Chase series by Joan Aiken. Smart & non-condescending YA, fantastical without being fantasy, dark and Dickensian as hell, extremely lefty and anticapitalist, a full dozen sequels, amazing Edward Gorey covers.

THE SNOW QUEEN belongs to a line of quest narratives involving perilous journeys and wonders. Andersen's tale is unusual in that it has eight or more main characters who are female while the victim who must be saved is a boy.
1885 edition illustrated by T. Pym (a pseudonym for Clara Creed).

A THIN #GHOST Is one of my favourite ever book titles. The original decorative cloth cover with spider's web design published by Edward Arnold in 1919 is as ghoulishly good as Montague Rhodes James's writing. A #gothic gem of a book.
