One time someone complained that the chapters in my fics were too short. Ever since then I’ve had an imaginary finishing line when writing and it’s *ALWAYS* about the word count.
I’m trying to undo this thinking but that comment has stuck with me. I don’t think they’ve realised the damage it caused

It’s exciting to go through your history/bookmarks and seeing the words “update available” — and then you can get your favourite snacks and cosy up in bed for a good time.

Sure, you could wait for it to be finished so you can read it in one go, or you could read, give kudos, and comment — it might encourage the author and a little goes such a long way.

Yes I love Reylo fics where they hate each other before falling in love… but most importantly, I ADORE fics where Ben is so utterly obsessed with Rey he’s shaking and vibrating with the urge to touch her because she’s the sunshine to his dark soul!!!! I eat it up every time!!!!
