Today is the birthday of Lester Dent (Oct. 12, 1904-March 11, 1959), cocreator & primary writer of Doc Savage.

Terry and the Pirates by Milton Caniff from October 12, 1941. The last Sunday strip before the death of Raven Sherman, which was a widely reported event in popular culture at the time.

Terry and Dude Hennick are worried about Raven, who is resting in a tent due to her injuries. She is in a bad shape so they create a gurney and attempt to travel but do not make it far before running out of water. They try to give Raven hope but she has accepted that she is dying. She asks them to stop so she can watch the sun come up one more time.

Everything he's reported to have said in this BBC piece sounds like he's desperately trying to distance himself, knowing that the connection is real and toxic. If the press were investigating Farage with the same enthusiasm they went for Rayner, he'd be done for.

3/ Russian forces are still using tanks to advance on the battlefield during infrequent mechanized assaults when Ukraine’s drone defenses are degraded, indicating that tanks remain and will remain a relevant weapon on the battlefield under proper tactical conditions.

2/ Recent open-source data indicates that Russia is also increasing its refurbishment of T-72 tanks, possibly for use on the battlefield in Ukraine in the short term or to reestablish its tank reserve to threaten NATO in the medium term.
