After humming and hawing I've decided the rival girl is going to be a wolf because the wolf fighting the rabbit is classic and the wolf/rabbit sexual tension is classic (third time she's used this reason)

Yeah! Since they're like, much closer in ability (Transformation) they're either positioned as rivals or counterparts... It's also why Luigi's version of the Tanooki Suit is a fox in 3D land
