Another Sad Loss In Music
I guess it is something that comes with age, but it feels as though I am writing too many tribute posts recently. Sadly, here is another, for someone whose music I have loved for nearly sixt…

Tuesday Tunes 273: Numero Quattro
As I’ve said before, I don’t usually run these mini-series for more than three weeks, but as I have so many more numbers songs I thought I’d go round again. I had been deba…

Song Lyric Sunday: Flying Thingies
I'm not sure where he got the idea from, but for this week's Song Lyric Sunday Jim is inviting us to play a song that mentions an insect. His post tells all. Naturally, being of my vintage, my thoughts first turned to the wonderfully creepy Boris The Spider by The Who, but I thought that might be chosen by others so I'm leaving it to them.

World Mental Health Day 2025
Those of you who have joined me in more recent times might not be aware that when I started this blog, just over thirteen years ago, I did so with the aim of sharing my experiences of depression, having been encouraged to do so by my counsellor when I was returning to work after many months away. He told me that what I was writing for him in the tasks he gave me was 'inspirational' and would help others, and it turned out that he was right.

Tuesday Tunes 272: Numbers x 3
As I still have a list of loads of songs with numbers in their titles I thought I'd play a third set for you. As before, numbers are their only connection, apart from the fact that I like them all - that rather goes without saying, doesn't it! I hope you enjoy them - they are a bit of a mixed bag.

Song Lyric Sunday: What Gold Rush?
It's Sunday, and that means it's time for another Song Lyric Sunday, doesn't it. This week, Jim is asking us to play a song associated with climate change and the environment, as he tells us in his post Impacting Life On Earth. My chosen song isn't perhaps the most obvious one, but as I have played several others both for…

This year seems to be moving at breakneck speed, and we're already in October. Having just added another increment to my age counter I'm feeling it! But on the bright side, it does mean that it is time for me to give you my monthly reminder of all the goodies I bestowed on you during September, in what is now the third of my new(ish)ly revised format for these, which I have imaginatively titled…

Tuesday Tunes 271: More Numbers
I said last week that I had a long list of songs with numbers in their titles, and I'm going with another set of them for this week's Tuesday Tunes offering. I've spent the past few days trying not to watch sports that would be bad for my blood pressure so I'm in need of some musical relief! How about you?

Song Lyric Sunday: Sisters
It's Sunday all over again, and for this week's Song Lyric Sunday, as he tells us in his post Talented With Potential, Jim is inviting us to play a song from a band or artist that had potential, but never got their due. That suggests an historical component, but my choice is still playing, though they are more to be seen as live performers these days: it has been twelve years since their last record release and fourteen since the last of their three albums.

The Starry Night
I was looking back over some older posts, wondering what I could do for this week's midweek offering, and I stumbled across a couple of pieces I wrote in Autumn 2021, to show off my knowledge of art history and to prove that I hadn't wasted my time at university, where this was part of the course I studied. In case you're interested, the first was about…

Tuesday Tunes 270: Numbers
Whilst thinking of what I could choose for a new theme for this series I happened to be reading another blog which posted a song with a number in its title. That got me thinking about how many I knew, and I decided to go with it. I made a quick list and it already stands at thirty five, so this may be a series that I run with for a bit!
