I very rarely go back in this way to a theme I have used before for Tuesday Tunes, my mini-series aside, but it just feels so right in current circumstances to remind ourselves that we should be living in a peaceful world. At present it is anything but that: there are genocidal maniacs in Israel and Russia destroying Gaza and Ukraine, a moron in the White House egging them on whilst declaring war on the people he is supposed to be governing, and on Sunday we received a warning from one of those 'experts' that we could be engaged in all out war in Europe within three or four years.

For Song Lyric Sunday this week Jim is inviting us to play a song that mentions bones, sticks, stones or words. I saw the connection between the first three but had to rely on his post The Old Adage to explain the last one. Of course, it's the old playground taunt, but in my defence that was a very long time ago!

I guess it is something that comes with age, but it feels as though I am writing too many tribute posts recently. Sadly, here is another, for someone whose music I have loved for nearly sixty years, from a band that I adored in my formative years and still play today. You may recognise him from his 1970 photo: if not, that is John Lodge, of The Moody Blues.

As I've said before, I don't usually run these mini-series for more than three weeks, but as I have so many more numbers songs I thought I'd go round again. I had been debating with myself not to, but a comments chat with the lovely Carolyn on last week's offering convinced me. You'll see why, later. Let's get things going with a longtime favourite:

I'm not sure where he got the idea from, but for this week's Song Lyric Sunday Jim is inviting us to play a song that mentions an insect. His post tells all. Naturally, being of my vintage, my thoughts first turned to the wonderfully creepy Boris The Spider by The Who, but I thought that might be chosen by others so I'm leaving it to them.

Those of you who have joined me in more recent times might not be aware that when I started this blog, just over thirteen years ago, I did so with the aim of sharing my experiences of depression, having been encouraged to do so by my counsellor when I was returning to work after many months away. He told me that what I was writing for him in the tasks he gave me was 'inspirational' and would help others, and it turned out that he was right.

As I still have a list of loads of songs with numbers in their titles I thought I'd play a third set for you. As before, numbers are their only connection, apart from the fact that I like them all - that rather goes without saying, doesn't it! I hope you enjoy them - they are a bit of a mixed bag.

It's Sunday all over again, and for this week's Song Lyric Sunday, as he tells us in his post Talented With Potential, Jim is inviting us to play a song from a band or artist that had potential, but never got their due.
