The proposed reconsideration of this program would also prevent public access to this important information.

This federal program is a foundational component of corporate sustainability work and the proposal to discontinue it risks slowing climate progress and letting major polluters off the hook.
If approved, this would eliminate requirements for measuring & reporting carbon emissions for the majority of U.S. industries, including fossil fuel producers & refiners. The GHGRP is an important source of data collection & important tool used to cut pollution, minimize wasted energy, & save money.
ACTION ALERT 🚨 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed a rule to permanently remove program obligations for 46 out of 47 total source categories of the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP). (🧵1/5)

Too many corporations talk about “future climate solutions” while quietly funding lobbying that slows progress today 🌍

Bill Weihl calls it out in Half-truths & hidden lies: How large corporations undermine climate action — a sharp look at how selective truth-telling & silence stall systemic change.
How large corporations undermine climate action
Company silence is hurting public perception and policy momentum.

However, silence won't lead to a brighter future. Moral courage, truth-telling, collaborative problem-solving and advocating for meaningful climate leadership will. 𝗪𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 to ensure they rise to the challenge, & quickly.

They’re also “greenhushing,” either by publicly supporting climate action while simultaneously lobbying against it, or by actively reducing their public climate commitments despite internal progress.
Many large corporations are telling half-truths about their climate impact by overhyping future benefits and downplaying or hiding their ties to organizations blocking climate action.
