This is great Claire. And as someone who grew up in a working class context it really resonates! And I also love cathedrals!
Some thoughts on the importance of teaching reading, post phonics, through key stage 3 and into secondary. We shouldn’t assume that because we’ve (mostly) fixed the start of the pipeline, we’ve cracked the system. At CAM we’re training all our pupil-facing staff as teachers of reading.
@thewayofkueh.bsky.social says we need to see a joined up approach to education. It’s important for the government to set out how initiatives will connect. For example what will be the way that curriculum reform, following the review, will link up with promised SEND reforms? #EducationFest
