App Idea Guy Pitch: Okay, but what if there was a social walking app called “Touch Grass” where it’s basically BeReal except at any point in your walk it prompts you to take a photo of something that can be shared with friends.

It's particularly disappointing because it comes off to me like they no longer actually care about their work/craft. This then makes me also not care about whatever they produce.

Is there like a wordle for learning various interesting things about a given programming language? That'd be neat.

My partner and I were hooked the story like it was Lost Season 1 all over again. Except Clair Obscur has a much better ending.

Samsung could call it the "Samsung Sidekick"

I can’t believe the timing of this thread and the YouTube video in my last post. Both very artful in their own ways.
computer Show Me Less Like This. show me Parisian streets and their denizens, show me futurist art and central american architecture. show me black forests and crystal pools, steady wildlife and bad poetry and confused yellow cabs. computer, show me the agonies of Men in love

Okay but did you do all this from the Android terminal?
January 11, 2026 at 12:49 PM
Yeah, I imagine that in time, it will still be around but about as interesting to the general population as talking about what kind of power drill you have and use.

Just to be clear, I don’t dislike AI. I dislike hiring practices being so invasive and so openly taking advantage of the power imbalance.

That’s actually wild and cringe. I feel like when companies want to see those things, candidates should be allowed to see internal company documents of their choosing too.

My gut tells me there's a lot of overlap with the people who are always yapping about engagement

That's true. I think I was also projecting my laziness onto the average person 😂

I'm definitely biased in that since I work in tech, I find more joy (at the current phase of my life) not doing tech things even if it might be as trivial as asking AI to do it for me.
January 10, 2026 at 5:26 PM
The good thing, for now, is while there may be people developing their own solutions with the help of AI. They may not want to maintain it over time.

Yeah, it's also a bummer in mixed device households because the Apple Music app on Android seemingly can't play on Sonos speakers. You have to use the Sonos app to do it which is lame. But on the iOS version, it works great!

Tidal has been a more consistent experience for me cross-platform.

It's such a bummer because they have produced a lot of cool tech (although they've been a little stagnant as of late) but they also were a massive influence in designing products that more or less end up as e-waste because of their lack of repairability and upgradability.

Maybe that's a sign that the people want to see you post more here

It's Friday, it needs a break

Actually, that’s probably a good thing. The local stores around me are lucky they are located just far enough away that I don’t empty their shelves every day.
January 9, 2026 at 1:33 PM
Have you had Turtle Chips? They're equally way too good.

yes

I tell them that it usually takes a lot for me to get numbed in an area (this is not a lie) so they juice me up with whatever they normally do until half my face is numb. That helped me with my recent fillings.
January 8, 2026 at 8:13 PM
This is not subtweet or whatever based on anything any one person has said or done. I'm just annoyed that things like "oh that's just ragebait for engagement" is a thing.
January 8, 2026 at 8:12 PM
It's weird how social media sites nowadays just make followers and engagement a commodity and not...you know...just being social with other people.

This is probably my boomer take for the day. I get that money is money in these hard times but it feels weird to me that this is the norm now.

It’s all pay to play under the current form of capitalism
