If the Iowa legislature is willing to take away rights from trans Iowans, none of us is safe because they will have proven that they only believe in rights for those who agree with them. Don’t think that you may not be next. “Our freedoms we prize, our rights we will maintain.” Or will we?

Given all the hate filled anti-trans bills and orders that are out there, it is import for me to say again that this pastor loves and supports the LGBTQ+ community. #BeUMC #Loveislove

Then he will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment but the righteous into eternal life.”

DOGE is potentially coming for Social Security that we have all spent years of our lives paying for. The richest man in the world wants to steal our retirement. Is this what you voted for? Is this where America is going?
He is going after our Social Security...
I wonder if ever the Trumpers will understand how this will end for them...

Americans like to think they are pragmatists. So when government officials aren’t following the rule of law some might think, “great, they are cutting through the red tape.” But when that law involves your rights or your loved one’s rights, your freedoms will be the red tape that gets cut.

“Trump to sign order to use Guantánamo Bay to house migrants - The Wall Street Journal”

This is unconscionable! The US doesn’t need internment camps. This is horrifying.

If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.

I stand with the Right Reverend Bishop Budde. She was simply teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. #BeUMC
This is the face of courage and compassion. Thank you Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde for speaking truth to power on behalf of the marginalized.

Some strategies for caring for yourself in stressful times is to limit your time reading the news to a tolerable load. Stop doom scrolling for your own health. Then return to take stands on what is important to you. #BeUMC #SelfCare

While I'm stuck using Facebook for certain interactions, Zuckerberg's latest announcement means I'm not going to be posting publicly very much to Meta's social media platforms. Making Meta more like X is something I can't support. I'm not interested in #XBook

When someone says, “The Bible clearly says…” that’s a red flag that they are unwilling to listen to different interpretations. It doesn’t signal that they are right.

It’s shameful that we don’t do better than this for our citizens.
70% of the world’s population has universal healthcare, but not the US

We are the only highly developed nation without it

Our healthcare is twice as expensive as the average wealthy nation

US ranks last among industrial nations for deaths that could be prevented with timely access to healthcare
