Salomé (review) – a visually stunning spectacle that never quite captures the power of Wilde’s words
As a visual and auditory spectacle, Gesher's production of Salomé at the Theatre Royal Haymarket is stunning, but this, like the gaze of Salomé herself, comes at a price as the production's ability to convey the psychological motivations of the characters suffers. ★★★ Welcome to a world where leaders sit in their ivory towers on wealth earned through the misery of others, where religious beliefs are twisted to maintain power, and where desire and greed run rampant and political manipulation controls the masses.

Diva (1981) – an intoxicating and playful crossroads in French cinema that is both fascinating and alluring
Forty-four years after its release, 'Diva' continues to spark conversation and debate among critics and cinephiles, and StudioCanal's stunning 4K UHD restoration and re-release will hopefully see a whole new generation join that debate. The 1980s and early '90s saw the emergence of a new movement in French cinema, known as Cinéma du Look. This new movement would embrace spectacle, youth culture, and striking visuals and sound while equally reflecting the new economic realities and cultural changes in France under François Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac.

A letter from Faulty Towers – The Dining Experience at The President’s Hotel, Bloomsbury
For a wickedly entertaining, proudly chaotic, and beautifully performed homage to Fawlty Towers in its 50th anniversary year, Faulty Towers - The Dining Experience at the President's Hotel in Bloomsbury is an absolute blast. ★★★★ Subject: A concerned letter from Faulty Towers - the dining experience. Date: September 27, 2025 To. Mr and Mrs Fawlty, Faulty Towers. Dear Mr and Mrs Fawlty,

Twinless (review) – Sweeney’s film certainly isn’t identical to any other film out there; it’s a one-of-a-kind
Twinless is a joyously unconventional, astutely written, directed, and gloriously performed cinematic delight that jettisons predictability in favour of a far more fascinating exploration of grief and loneliness. ★★★★★ The Indian actress and director, Neena Gupta, once said, "Loneliness is always there, it's a phase that comes and goes, and it is a very difficult phase." The same could be said of grief.

Love Quirks: A New Musical (review) – entertaining in the moment but quickly forgettable once the footlights fade
Despite its modern-day setting, 'Love Quirks: A New Musical' at The Other Palace feels strangely stuck in the '90s. As a result, it offers little that speaks to the challenges twenty-somethings face today when navigating city, work, and love lives in our fast, insular, and impatient digital world. ★★ Life is messy, and love even more so. Discovering what and who we want, while separating our fantasy from the harsh realities of life, can be a minefield that sees more than a few of us step on several incendiary devices.
