The Zoo has been acting over the last two decades to support wild gorilla conservation, including the Mbeli Bai Study, the longest running research being done with wild gorillas.
Unfortunately all gorilla species are classified as critically endangered.
The 4-day-old baby gorilla is growing stronger & can already hold his head up.
The 3-day-old baby gorilla went outside today for the first time. Gladys may be a first-time mom, but she’s already a natural. Visitors can stop by Gorilla World on their next visit in hopes to get a glimpse of the new baby, but they will not be on a set schedule of when they will be out.

Happy 1st Birthday to Daisy the bonobo! Like chimpanzees, bonobos share 98.7% of our DNA. But unlike gorillas or chimpanzees, bonobos are a matriarchal society. They are female lead, and female bonds take priority over male bonds.
Together, we can help preserve orangutans’ homes.
