✦ Robo Ky & Venom Halloween!

Felt like drawing my other Guilty Gear favs in some cosplay fits so yeah here's this, too

Venom and Robo Ky from Guilty Gear, more specifically their appearance in Guilty Gear Strive. Much like my other Testament piece, this piece uses a great deal of varied lineweight for a traditional, comic-book-esque look, with harsh black shading on flat colors. There are multiple filters that give the piece a traditional, newspaper or magazine-like feel, such as the subtle halftones, the noise filter and the faded blacks and muted colors, complete with a gradient map to make the palette feel more uniform.

The main, detailed piece on the right is Venom dressed as Soma from Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow for the GameBoy Advance. Robo Ky is similarly dressed as Mina Hakuba from the same game. I ship the gay man and the dumb robot so I usually depict them as a couple.

On the top left is a detailed rendition of Venom dressed as Xemnas from Kingdom Hearts 2. They're very similar in appearance, what with the darker skin shade and white hair, so I felt it was fitting.

On the bottom left are dinky little chibis of Robo Ky and Venom dressed as Shadow and Sonic respectively. One thing I enjoy doing with Venom in smaller doodles is covering his entire face with hair and making the singular eye tattoo emote as if it were actually moving. It's a thing most Venom artists do, lmao

At the top is Robo Ky dressed as Kazooie and Venom as Banjo from, well, Banjo-Kazooie. Robo Ky is pretending to fly and Venom is kind of just dealing with it.

Lastly, the top right is a 1-minute doodle of Venom dressed in a Marvel Venom muscle suit.

This got me thinking about Phantasy Star online where you had to track down three sisters who went missing, but it turns out they went down to a planet with hostile fauna because the lava in the caves made it the ideal location to bake cakes and none of them had ever had cake before and wanted to.

the problem with modern videogame rpgs is they don't have quests like the one in phantasy star, where you need to bribe a governor with cake, but the only cake shop in the entire solar system is on a different planet, at the bottom of a four-floor dungeon, behind a locked door.

but you just need to choose the traps appropriately and you are fine. the fact that some person who only plays this for 70 hours a week will complain about loop events and battle pass is their problem

there are mythical cheaters as always in some regions and they did that 1896 while moving to newer engine + changed ui (for worse, yeah) to better suit console players
but the core of the game is still amazing. it's much easier to be annoying as a solo player,
