I’m giving my first talk EVER. 😱😳😱

The other speakers: “You’ll love this topic. It will spark joy. 🤗”

Me: “I’m going to be talking about time zones. 💀”

Just kidding of course. Very grateful to the @swiftleeds.co.uk team for picking my talk and giving me this opportunity.

My first trip to the UK!

How accessible is your iOS app? Want to find out?
Send me a message this week to get a free audit of your app.

(I've got five slots available for free audits, so first come first served!)

I was really pleased with how I was able to stylize the QR code for my @swiftleeds.co.uk presentation with QRCode Monkey.

I had no idea that you could use curved shapes for the corners.
A QR code with curved corners with concave red shapes in the middle. The Swift Leeds logo is in the center of the QR code.

Now that I've survived giving my first conference talk I can say that this advice from Vinh Giang was incredibly helpful.

Even when I was nervous before my talk I had the comfort of knowing that I had rehearsed and knew the material like the back of my hand.

Exactly. Even when I would start walking again it would keep nagging me over and over again because it had initially been triggered.

I love this addition to WatchOS 26 so much.

My watch shouldn't keep nagging me over and over because I stopped to look at something on a nature walk.

Found an accessibility issue with iOS 26 and Reduce Motion.

The per-app setting is completely ignored and the system setting is always used.

I have it turned off at the system level and turn it on for certain apps. I thought that I had broken my "please wait" animation.

If you have no proof then it didn't happen.

When I'm organizing speakers for happy hour and I learn that their only social network is Linkedin I always do the surprised Pikachu face.

I've definitely had the post vacation blues today but installing the update that restores my beloved Slide Over mode on my iPad brought me joy.
An iPad running Marvel Snap with the Ice Cubes app running in Slide Over mode.

Oh wow, this looks really cool. How has @ryley.bsky.social not told me about this yet?

I'm so glad in my talk that when I mentioned print statements that I also mentioned that I also use OSLog. 😬
polpielladev.bsky.social
Here's another reason to stop using print statements in your code and start using OSLog instead!

💪 You can access os_log events from instruments to give you a better chance at fixing those pesky performance issues.

This was my first international trip where I tried completely turning off my primary eSIM and only having a data only travel eSIM.

It worked out great. With some apps I was able to use my Google Voice number and with other apps I could just tell people that I could only communicate via messaging.

I thought that this sign said “World of Whiskers“ and got excited it was a cat store. 😭
A sign that says “world of whiskies ”.

I was so confused because I initially thought that Chinatown picture was Leeds.

Of course I thought I’d be using the improved zoom on my iPhone 17 Pro for vacation photos but I lost track of how many times that I used it to read signs or figure out what something was.

I love it!
