What is Surrealism?
Surrealism was initially defined in 1924 by the poet André Breton in his First Manifesto of Surrealism. One of the twentieth century's most radical art movements, Surrealism sought to challenge convention through the exploration of the subconscious mind – invoking the power of dreams and the element of chance.
