Reasons why I would never file year-end lists by the end of November, pt.1.

I concur. Add, perhaps, a sprinkling of Hammers of Misfortune. It's freaking great!
Listening to this now and it's incredible. Doom but for people who love Alice In Chains (and secretly love Kansas) as much as Trouble. Wow.
I love this album the way I loved Crypt Sermon’s “The Stygian Rose” last year (and still): passionately, devotedly, with wonder and gratitude. Truly monumental stuff

I've very likely posted a similar statement on several occasions before, but this bears repeating; the Thomas Chapin Trio were freaking awesome. youtu.be/PoyfE7zhq1I...

There's no Black Friday sale on my Substack; it's free and will remain free, as my current life and work situation makes it hard to maintaain a regular publishing schedule. I can't charge for that. However, there will be a revival of sorts soon, and hopefully, more to come. chrismonsen.substack.com

Har skrevet om «Live from Studio Rivbea, 1975 & 1976» (NoBusiness Records), nylig utgitte liveopptak fra arkivet med saksofonisten Oliver Lake, fra hans tidlige sonderinger i New Yorks Loft Jazz-miljø på midten av 70-tallet, bl.a. sammen med bassgeniet Fred Hopkins. Les i dagens Musikkmagasinet.

🎶Out on the streets for a good deal
The stress has only begun (Ooh-ooh-ooh)
Your day is sorrow and madness
Got you under their thumb

Woo, black friday🎶

Anbefales! www.facebook.com/share/1CjMFy...

The marvelous Gard Nilssen's Supersonic Orchestra's jubilant season opening gig at Nasjonal Jazzscene earlier this fall was filmed by the NRK. An edited version is avaible via their online service, 'though likely not accessible abroad (unless you use a VPN). But this cracking 2022 Bimhius gig is.

Cecil Taylor Jazz Unit's Nefertiti, the Beautiful One Has Come was recorded live at the Café Montmartre in Copenhagen on this day of November in 1962. (Not unhappy with the '97 CD reissue I have, to be clear, but would love to own a version with the smashing Marte Röling drawn cover).
