Quatermass 2 (1957)

I enjoyed this even more than the first. A lot of movies of this era take a long time to get going but this has you right in it before the opening credits roll. Give me more Quatermass!
The Quatermass Xperiment (1955)

I really liked the way this built tension until the end when it reaches end of the world stakes. I really liked this. Excited to watch more Quatermass.
Curtains (1983)

This is maybe the most giallo a non-giallo movie has ever been. Good times.
The Ambulance (1990)

I truly love that Larry Cohen just made movies. Fun ass, eat a bucket of popcorn movies.
Blood Rage (1997)

A good premise and some really fun kills but the acting is TERRIBLE.
Head Of The Family

There is just something about the charm pf 90's straight to video cheese that I will never grow tired of.
Planet of the Vampires (1965)

I really liked the look of this but, man, was it SLOW.
Amityville: The Awakening (2017)

Did anyone ask for Meta Amityville?
The Amityville Horror (2005)

The biggest problem with this movie is that it's set in the 70s by Ryan Reynolds' personality did not exist before 1997.
In The Mouth Of Madness (1996)

I think this has moved up to my third favorite Carpenter, just behind The Thing and Halloween and just before They Live and Escape from New York. Sam Neil is really just a joy to watch descend into insanity.
Amityville: Dollhouse (1996)

Amityville: Dollhouse walked so stepmom porn could run.
Amityville: A New Generation (1993)

This was pretty close to unwatchable except for Richard Roundtree who, I can only assume, needed to pay some taxes or something.
This weeks take aways

1) I'm gonna need to do a Quatermass deep dive because this ruled.

2) I need more weird, gory kung fu horror in my life.

I liked both HIM and (I'm willing to bet) Amityville 1992 more than most people because they both took some big ass swings.

Amityville 1992: It’s About Time (1992)

Man, I 'd rank this maybe #2 in the franchise so far, behind part 2 and ahead on part one. Not necessarily in terms of quality but in terms of how much I enjoyed watching it.
HIM (2025)

I liked this way more than I expected to based on the discourse. It was messy but it was messy because of big swings. Marlon Wayans was REALLY good in this.
The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025)

I don't like these movies yet I keep watching them. Am I haunted?
Hiruko The Goblin (1991)

This was a weird little ball of fun. Lot's of puppet and stop motion work. Good times.

Ghost Stories (2017)

This was fine but felt like it was trying to recreate some of the charm of charm of the low budget, DIY charm of the original and that just doesn't work when you have Peter Dinklage and Kevin Bacon.
The Toxic Avenger (2025)

V/H/S Halloween (2025)

This was the best installment in a while for me. I only didn't like one of the shorts, which is a pretty damn good hit rate.
Manhunter (1986)

God DAMN does this movie look good.
Goke, Body Snatcher From Hell (1968)

Took a little break from my Amityville deep dive and I'm glad I did. This had the charm of 60s sci fi with a bit darker of an edge. Really dug it.
The Amityville Curse (1990)

This was originally a made for TV movie and boy can you tell.
