Was good to see Kirsten Tynan between the sticks for the Whitecaps Academy in their 8-0 CONCACAF win against Alianza. Jenna Baxter had a couple of goals too. These two, always TSS Rovers.
Benefitted some Mexican academies though right? But actually I’m not convinced the owners of BC’s CPL teams care much about developing BC players. They’ll take them if they are oven-baked and ready to go. Otherwise, nah.
But the NSL brings players like Pridham home to showcase themselves against those known quantities. There are others out there that didn’t come through the REX too in Europe.
It will be faster than that I think. The fact that the Rise took only Ward while Toronto built a team with REX players including Regan, Hansen, Cathro and Hunter and others says something. Other teams also have those players. Once the NSL teams get their own academies going it won’t be long.
Pridham is definitely on the bubble talent and performance wise. You could argue that Ward is better on the national level than domestic (but she’s also a former REX player - as is Regan - and Pridham is not and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. We need to widen the pool).
It’s a fair assessment but also this isn’t world changing drama. The NSL has been better than expected I think in many ways and it’s year one of a journey. If the CPL is any indicator, they quality of play may well grow faster than anticipated.

Also generalities and specifics can be different.

Weather geekery. KH clouds over Toronto this morning. Can confirm, @ensembleator.bsky.social?
Haven’t seen her a lot this season but in the games I watched against the Rise she was one of those players that you don’t want to see get the ball.
The way things are going, it’s probably Langley United.

Sure in the sense that inheriting your grandfather’s winning lottery ticket is the equivalent of “financial planning!”
“ARE YOU TOTTENHAM IN DISGUISE”.
The words “have done it” are doing a lot of lifting here.
It’s just what the kids play. Getting “sent off” on Bowen means a one way trip to the mainland.
Pretty soon we can watch AI generated matches too and then the singularity will have been acheived.

Meanwhile there’s nothing like watching the Bowen Island FC u11s in an eight aside match against West Van.

More like the second part of the sentence but, ouch!
