Travelodge Dorking is resurfacing its carpark. I’ve been pushing for this since my election; writing to the CEO and social media. It will take four weeks, and the drainage will be replaced to stop the flooding.

I spoke to BBC Radio Surrey this morning about audiology services returning to Dorking Community Hospital this week. Hundreds of my constituents were left stranded without warning after its abrupt closure at the end of May due to an IT error.

Our next SEND parent/carer support coffee morning will be on Monday the 24th of November in Horley. Helyn Clack, the Surrey County Council Deputy Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Lifelong Learning will be there to listen to SEND parents share their stories. I look forward to seeing you all.

When Sara Sharif was removed from school on 17th April 2023 the school immediately flagged their concerns with Surrey County Council (SCC). They also returned the required form to the Council shortly afterwards, confirming her removal from school and that they had safeguarding concerns.

Audiology services will be back at Dorking Community Hospital from this Monday. It's wonderful news for hundreds of people in our community who were left stranded when they were shut without warning over the summer.

Many local businesses feel that people leave pubs, bars and restaurants earlier because without any ride-hailing apps, they’re worried they won’t be able to get home. Please sign our petition to bring these apps to Dorking and surrounding areas: www.chriscoghlan.org/petitions-an...

As part of our efforts to support local businesses, we have been investigating the lack of taxis from ride-hailing apps available in Dorking and the surrounding areas.

Over 20% of first-class mail is delivered late in RH postcodes. In Buckland and Betchworth, there was no post delivered at all when the post lady was on holiday. People have missed important NHS appointments, parking fines and more due to this poor service.

It’s outrageous that many clinically vulnerable people, including those who have motor neurone disease, are not eligible for free COVID-19 booster jabs this autumn. Last week, I spoke with BBC Radio Surrey and wrote to the Health Secretary about this.

A twelve year old autistic child in Dorking has attempted suicide twice, most recently in the last four weeks. Despite their life being at risk, they still don’t have an EHCP (their legal document from Surrey County Council for extra support). 1/3

Time and time again I have come across people who turn tragedy in their own lives into positive change for others. It was inspiring and hard to speak last night about my constituents Ellie, Jamie, their daughter Maddie and their son Billy’s devasting experience with cancer.

I was on BBC Radio Surrey this morning discussing the disgraceful cuts to local services by Royal Mail in Dorking and Horley, despite the company making a profit. Royal Mail recently confirmed plans to cut back, delivering second class letters only every other weekday and axing Saturday deliveries.

Jenny, a mum from Dorking told me about her severely learning-disabled daughters, Isabelle and Sienna, who have been separated into different residential learning facilities by the Surrey SEND system.

I pressed the Ministry of Defence on why we aren’t using every tool to secure peace in Ukraine - including $300bn in frozen Russian assets. Supporting Ukraine means holding Russia to account, and that starts with leadership from every ally.

I’m delighted to share that after persistent pressure and raising the alarm with the Environment Agency, Ofwat, and the Flooding Minister, Thames Water have finally listened and completed emergency upgrades at Horley Sewage Works.

The 20mph speed limit in Dorking Town Centre and nearby residential roads, has reached its informal consultation stage. If proposals are approved, funding is available to implement the scheme in February / March 2026.

AI is transforming work, and the Government must incentivise companies to create new jobs which support AI. This will simultaneously protect the workforce and enhance productivity within the UK economy.

Horley residents have been writing to me all summer about inconsiderate holiday makers who don’t want to pay for parking at Gatwick airport. They are fed up and frustrated they cannot park in the street outside their own homes, and that it’s also difficult for friends and family to visit.

I met with Clarion’s Regional Housing and Repair Leads to raise residents’ concerns around poor communication and delays. They’ve laid out new plans to improve: more Housing Officers on estates, better contact centre tech, and faster repair response - aiming for first visits within 28 days.
