Important piece by @resi-analyst.bsky.social this. Successive governments seem not to have understood that your regulatory framework over the longterm shapes who your market participants *are*. If want short-term (i.e. over the next 5-10 years) benefits of planning reform, need to be more active.
New homes: even if you build them, there’s no one to buy them
We’re often told housing demand exceeds supply — so why are new homes struggling to be built and bought?

Government either needs to go 'well, we've made these changes and over time, the market will do its thing and new businesses will emerge' or it needs to actively do things to accelerate that process/act as a £450k a pop builder itself for a bit.
Thanks, Fiona! That's cheered me up!
Blyth's Reed Warbler and Sabines Gull, both along the Tweed and Borders' 3rd Cattle Egret 2 weeks ago (wasn't the 'finder').
A Pied Flycatcher in the garden, White-fronted Goose near the house, Marsh and Pectoral Sandpipers at Musselburgh - all-in-all a good year!
That's great to hear!
Viv died in September, he was living on his farm in Portugal - he did well to live into his eighties.
When I hung out with him we were both at a low point - he was living in a friend's basement.
If he gets the Peace Prize, even the dead will rise up to hand back theirs!

Only an imbecile believes the planet is infinite. You appear to constantly treat friends as enemies.
Solar and wind are the solutions - messy at the moment, but if the biosphere survives, and as the technology improves, the harms can be healed.
Just what are your solutions? Are you genuine?
I blame Prue !
Danny Kruger on his political opponents: "What I worry about is they’re going to get together after the next election and have some sort of appalling Hamas-supporting, LGBT-supporting nationalist party against the United Kingdom, trying to get us back into the EU"

Never in the history of the US has any president openly and repeatedly called for the investigation, arrest & prosecution of his political opponents. While many continue to shrug these things off and normalize them, I will never stop pointing out that this is what autocrats do.

You seem to never offer solutions - I'm a doomer, I've been following climate change for 50 years, but I'm just not sure what you are, what point you're trying to make, other than just give up now, were all fucked.
Ginger was was a nutter, I'll give you that - but a drinking partner of mine was Viv Prince of The Pretty Things (he literally taught Keith Moon of The Who a thing or two!). Viv was the ultimate in crazy rock drummers - we did some mad stuff.
But still on a tiny percentage of that desert!

This is driving me insane, now. There's no way Labour is winning an election without improving public services and cost of living. If you think further cuts in public services to honour a daft election pledge is going to save either 'trust in politics politics' or Labour you need to get out more.

My wife had lunch with a friend in Lauder today, so I dropped her off and headed to Lauder Common - found an unexpected Black Grouse. Catastrophically declining in the Moorfoots, surprised to find one here. From the Common, Moorfoots, Lammermuirs, Eildons and Cheviots all visible.
But what a great album!
Used to eat in the same cafe as Ginger Baker.

A forecast of rain led me to set up my trap in our open-fronted barn - rewarded with 14/6, including my 1st December Moth and Pine Carpet. 6 Feathered Thorns, 4 Nov. aggs., Angle-Shades and a Brick. Also 1st Rhomboid Tortrix when mowing the yard in front of the barn in the afternoon.

Been thinking about how to phrase this sensitively and can't do it so just gonna say it and apologise if it comes off bad: the tragic death of Lia Smith and so many others like her is the deliberate and designed end goal of the "gender critical" movement
