Had a very similar experience! I wasn’t playing either, but when I first started playing I’d just look at card galleries of older sets and lorwyn’s art/mechanics stuck out to me. Did get to draft it a bunch when it flashbacked on MTGO and it’s one of my all time favs now

Remains to be seen what Reality Fracture is all about, but Maro has been hyping some new card printing tech that wasn’t possible before and those sort of things have lead to cool limited innovations the past (the dedicated land slot, planeswalker in every pack etc)

Lesson-learn is in my top 3 limited mechanics of all time, and lessons being in ATLA soft confirms its return. The subversion of what color pairs should do in limited and the focus on sweet instants/sorceries also highlights for me

While I’m not that hyped for any of the 2026 UB sets, got a feeling in my bones that the UW sets will be bangers.

Lorwyn is a sick plane creatively and mechanically, feel similarly about Strixhaven, and there’s some “wow” factor they’re being hush-hush about w/ Reality Fracture

The way to think about this imo is that while the spell/land ratio argument has some merit, the benefits you gain from getting closer to “perfect” on that ratio isn’t as big (id argue muuuuuch smaller actually) as the benefit you get from drawing your best cards more often in your 40 card deck

PSA: These three cards don't have a "you may" or "an opponent controls" clause.

Betty is *very* generous and will give a counter to your opponent's creatures if you have none, and the other two will target your own creatures if your opponent has none.
