I think I just want to talk about it more. It’s not to divide us more (another point I’ve seen in white queer spaces when issues are brought up). But because I’ve been working through my imposter syndrome I’ve realized where a lot of it comes from.

- It’s one thing to look for safe trans spaces, but are those spaces safe for BIPOC trans folk or are they still full of white fragility?
- why do so many white woman-aligned tops take on a black-adjacent persona?
- who is left out of gay bars and pride events?

A couple of thoughts
- ask yourself why ‘fem’ must equal weak small and then be surprised black folk can be fem
- ask yourself why when one is transitioning you feel the need to act like the opposite gender but black
- ask yourself what you picture when you think “queer” and why

How have you decentered whiteness from your queerness?

I have a LOT to say on this topic and some of it relates to how white queerness specifically hurt me. I don’t know how to phrase it as “social media ready.”

But I will say it’s something more pervasive than people think it is.

It’s a hard thing to do when so much of queer culture is made up of whiteness and white appropriation of POC (largely black) culture.
