me defending all the corniest episodes of TNG:
It's not an odd calculation at all when you realize that the only thing Greenblatt and the current financial backers of the org recognize as anti-semitism is anti-zionism. There are no gray areas in that worldview, no tough conversations, just "Against Israel: anti-semitic. Pro-Israel: fine."
I KNOW there's gotta be some hidden gems in there
I'm not saying Islamophobia wasn't a factor, but I think the more salient crosstab was anti-DSA red scare paranoia
They've really crossed the reubencon, I hoagie gets acquitted
Putin and his autocratic state only came to be because of choices made by American meddlers in the early 90s during the fall of the USSR. You're ignoring that at your own peril. Doomed to repeat it, over and over.
Yes, I know he's pals with Putin. Not the point.

The point is that they get along because they are both mobster oligarchs and that's the world-order they want to build. When you just blame Russia you are completely ignoring the political and economic choices that led both countries to this point
I think also his 'whimsical' side works a lot better when he uses it to contrast and soften really emotionally heavy narrative. His animated movies lean too hard into the whimsy and don't really have that same balance that I love in most of his stuff.
I kind of feel the same way about Mr. Fox. His animation stuff is for somebody out there, but not me.
We're going to need you to think more seriously about the power structures and power dynamics that led to Trump. You can't just say "those damn Russians" as an excuse for all of your political woes. That is a MAGA-like type of lazy ignorance and we need to do better.
bet theres a lot of "you fools!" sprinkled in there
They just live their lives in a Call of Duty themed McDonald's Land. Our coffee comes in rounds and our boss is Major McGun
I kind of hope they're innovating. I want to see brand new caveman arguments. I want to see them arguing over whether 'y' is a vowel, whether there's more meat in a quarter-pounder or a third-pounder, etc.
There's a difference between believing that's how it should be and recognizing the reality of our times.

If you look at controls all the levers of power in politics, media, corporate executive offices, it's all silver-spoon rich kids. Meritocracy has been dead for a generation. Nepotism rules.
At this point it would be burning political capital to NOT run someone strong against Schumer. He is absolutely reviled for how he’s been handling Trump, even by mainstream normie dem voters.
I do like the idea of a reaction image of someone accepting an L with grace
and a smile, though
I know, I’m just venting about something tangential. I’ll delete if you dont want it in your replies.
The reason he’ll win is good, long-needed, optimistic policy proposals that values residents above capital and the ability to show a moral backbone.

Thats a recipe that even boring, old, ugly candidates in middle america could win with and I want THAT to be to the takeaway bc we need it so bad
I agree with all the praise for his team’s presentation and messaging, but I get a little antsy about it because I don’t really want the takeaway to be that Dems just need to run media-savvy, hip photogenic micro-celebrities.

That’s not feasible and not the main reason that he’ll win!
I mean the answer to his question is “No, but its worth paying for with tax dollars” which can apply to all sorts of things funny enough!
This is incorrect. There’s a better explanation in your replies.

I’m not asking liberals to convert to communism but I am asking them to have a basic understanding of what it means and the power dynamics at issue when talking about it. (capitalism vs. democratic ownership of the economy)
I’ve been screaming this at “centrists” for over a decade: chasing red state moderates is a chump game. I grew ip in rural TX and that kind of voter simply does not exist there.

You know who does exist in large numbers? Disaffected non-voters who are absolutely primed for radical change
i would believe you if you told me there were libs replying exactly like this to every single local obituary posted online
you dont have to guess, they confirm it literally the next post in that thread lol:

Defense tells judge they want to question Lairmore about 'gag gifts' he received from fellow officers after the alleged assault, including a Subway sandwich plush toy and a patch that (unless I misheard) said 'Felony Footlong.'

Prosecutors object. Defense argues they reflect CBP 'state of mind.'
Seeing my “libertarian” parents immediately abandon those principles in the Bush era to support strongman neo-conservatism is what broke me out of that worldview as a teenager. Seeing them bust out the libertarian affect again only after Obama was elected just solidified it.
