I think what really won over corporate "America" was Excel. That was the killer app that really solidified MS as the office suite winner.

Entire businesses were being run on Excel, and word generally came along for the ride.

Hey, I loved WordPerfect 5 for DOS, it was really great, the windows versions never really lived up to that version in my mind. Kinda bloated, sluggish, and a bit annoying to use in comparison to that period's Word, which ran pretty slick, even when they introduced clippy.

It was pouring rain this morning when it was time to walk to the park. I put on my rain pants, waterproof shoes, best rain coat. I picked up my hat that had fallen on the floor and put it on. I felt a weird tingle. Realized something was in my hat.

I once stayed overnight there for work at a motel, that had almost officially opened for the season, they had 1 room ready.

No phone, cell phone had no coverage, there was a pay phone by the road, and the room was infested with spiders

Wasn't very relaxing.
