“El… Ellisia, please…” Santiago coughs, grimacing at the metallic taste of blood. His chest aches savagely where sheㅡno, not her, it's Rage, it isn't herㅡshoved him back, ribs creaking in ways they shouldn't with every breath he takes. “Come back. Ellisia!”

But she can't hear him. Or worse, if she can, she's trapped behind those pitiless burning eyes, currently watching his every movement with the compassion of a shark. He tries to sit up, to reach for her, but at the motion of his hand the demon shrieks in fury and swipes at him again, claws sinking deep. His mouth opens in a silent scream as white-hot pain sears across his chest, his arm still attached only by the sheer luck that he pulled it back in time. That small blessing won't save him, though. Blood begins to pool around him, pouring from slashes his magic cannot heal, and he blinks owlishly up at her through unfocused eyes.

She's standing over him still, flames flickering around her and her expression twisted in fury. He tries to keep his eyes on her face but they drift, no longer obeying his commands. Then he blinks and… The fire's gone out. When did the fire go out?

A gentle pressure on his chest cuts through the fog, the pain drawing a strangled gasp from his throat. It's her… almost. The madness is gone from her eyes but the horns remain, as do the flickers of red darting across her skin like lightning. Still, when he meets her eyes he finally sees her looking back.

He smiles, a hand slowly sliding up to weakly curl his fingers around hers. Her skin is painfully hot, but he doesn't let go. “You… came back…”

She doesn't speak. She can't. But right now, that's just as well. Santiago doesn't have long and he needs to be heard before he goes. He coughs painfully, choking up a mouthful of blood before he's able to speak in a rough whisper, squeezing her fingers as tight as he can.

“El, I… this is… not your fault.” He holds her gaze, his own surprisingly steady despite the black spots pressing in around the edges. “I… forgive you.”

With his last burst of strength, he pulls their joined hands up to his face and presses a soft kiss to her fingertips, leaving a smear of dark blood on her pale skin. Their hands fall back to his chest, his fingers losing their grip. He can't see her anymore. It doesn't hurt anymore either.

Please, cariño. Find a way to forgive yourself.

One shallow breath, then another, then… Nothing. He’s gone.

Lava pouring down her face replicating tears as the grief begins to outweigh the rage, Ellisia's consciousness comes back to her in the worst way as she finally gains control of the useless thing called her body, small specks of green returning to her eyes as her throat burns raw and red. She can't speak, silent wails as his hand falls limp and ash fills the air, crumbling off her skin. She curls over her hands trembling as she grasps his hand, her head on his chest.

Try to get whatever she found on the ’net, by any possible means. And Galatea, the PHANTOM make sure what Lenny found would not be for nothing.

And you realize, if that happened to you, to Lenny, how many others in Night City share the same fate? Maybe you can get a little bit known, and maybe use that so the truth can be available to all those who deserves it; and not letting the Corps get away with anything.
