Online responses to the 2025 Census began on Saturday, September 20th. Residents are required to respond with information about their household situation as of Wednesday, October 1st.

Until the last census in 2020, if you answered "same sex" as your "spouse," your results would be automatically reclassified as "living with other relatives," and the results would be compiled accordingly. Through our "Rainbow Census" action, we at Malifaux have been calling for this reclassification not to occur.

The method of calculation for this survey is still unclear, but at the recent Diet session, the Statistics Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications stated that "Please answer based on the relationship that each household determines for themselves." Couples who want to get married but cannot, please answer the survey with your true lifestyle.
