History of Ice Alaska. In 1996 s new division was created. The Amateur Open was a competition with less pressure on the artists. A team of 1-2 sculptors had three days to carve a block that was 3’x5’x3’. Here are the Amateur Open sculptors from 2007. #icealaska

History of Ice Alaska. In 2001 Ice Alaska sent a guest sculptor to Arctic Village to introduce ice sculpture to the students. Later that spring the students came to town and got a special invitation to work on ice sculptures at the World Ice Art Championships Ice Park. #icealaska

In 1989 Fairbanks invited ice sculptors from China, Japan and the United States to help create ice art for the annual winter festival. Revival of ice sculpture also revived the process of harvesting ice. Photos from the Douglas Yates book about ice sculpting. #icealaska
