I find many subreddit annoying. They have elitist posting rules that make me question their existence. For instance r/FishingOntario. I posted looking for a good spot in my area & they delete the post saying you can't ask for fishing spots. Like a cooking subreddit saying no recipe sharing. Huh??

Amazon asks me to rate my purchases. Google asks me to rate the places I visit. YouTube asks me to rate videos. Hey! if rating things is so important then give me something for it. Amazon credits or something. Incentivize me. The wealthy do nothing for free so why should? #Amazon #Google #YouTube

Hypothetical situation here. Your contract expires next Monday. The employer has been saying for months they plan to renew. After many reminders you still don't have a new contract. Do you continue to work after it expires assuming it will work out, or do you stop? #gamedeveloper #gamedev

Well EA just had a huge layoff. It really feels like the AAA space is changing. If you don't innovate you die. You can't just keep kicking money out of those franchises & expect them to be profitable. You need to be always making new & exciting game play if you want them to stay alive. #gamedev

You're on a 1 yr contract. The contract says no OT, no bonuses, no comp time, no holidays, no vacation, etc. They start a 50+ hours a week mandatory crunch.
What do you do? Tell them you can't work overtime? Eat the overtime?

I've been having a blast with Schedule I. It's is exactly how I like my gameplay. The player drives the story so if you want to not do the objective you just don't until you're ready. It also has another thing I enjoy which is an open world with overlapping systems. Really enjoying it! #ScheduleI

In my experience crunch is either planned or the result of poor management. I've never seen it be the result of the development team, although it's often painted as such. #gamedevelopment

To companies posting onsite positions. Please understand the current state of the industry teaches that you'll work on a project & get laid off when the project ends. It's hard to expect applicants to pack up their lives & move with no stability. Please consider remote roles. #gamedevelopment

The industry was shook today by NetEase layoffs of the Marvel Rivals devs. They produced a successful title & were cast aside. I know I've always said no to NetEase recruiters. Maybe you should too the next time they need devs. #gamedev #gamedevelopment #NetEase

I was told after an interview that while they respected my years of experience they felt I thought too much about their questions, rather than giving quick enthusiastic answers.
Pretty much sums up the current climate. People don't want a correct or truthful answer, they just want any answer.

When someone says, "It's a game" in a design meeting it's like nails on a chalkboard to me. I understand sometimes it's true, but it always leave the aftertaste of being lazy and choosing not to address the issue. #gamedevelopment
