The system is owned and run by the mega rich to enable them to get richer.
If we, those who have to rely on work, were united we could change that.
Instead we fight amongst ourselves.
We need to put aside our political differences and concentrate on what we have in common.
celticdolphin.bsky.social
Then you already know why pursuing to rejoin at this moment is pointless.
celticdolphin.bsky.social
There still isn’t sufficient public support for rejoining & until there is what would Starmer gain by announcing something that isn’t in his gift to deliver?
What we desperately need are closer and closer ties to try to regain some advantage we have lost. By agreeing to FOM we could gain much more.

The concentration of wealth in the hands of a few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy.

When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, regular people don't have a voice.

The result? The demagoguery and corruption we're seeing now.

The problem when we have a right wing press & media. It’s always negative reporting for Labour.
The far left is as bad, instead of celebrating any wins they concentrate on the negatives.
This Government isn’t perfect but compared to the last 14 years, it’s a huge improvement and that’s something!

The political scientist Anthony Salamone suggested 60%
The Brexit referendum should have had a threshold, but of course it didn’t.
In fact 37.5% of those eligible to vote took us out of the EU ( not 52%) on a wafer thin margin.
celticdolphin.bsky.social
Current polls show just 36% of people in the UK strongly support rejoining.
That’s an awfully long way from 60%…
celticdolphin.bsky.social
Willing to join as a country yes, consistently above 60% wanting to join, it’s been suggested.
It’s not in our gift to join, that will be dependent upon a unanimous approval.
celticdolphin.bsky.social
By accepting FOM for a start, by continued public support for rejoining, by agreeing to accept more ties to the EU, the Euro for instance.
By our media supporting public opinion, in being pro EU.
So before we talk about rejoining we need much closer ties first.
celticdolphin.bsky.social
I don’t think they are in the business of punishing people either, but equally no country wants to waste time, money and effort.
celticdolphin.bsky.social
You can’t consider us like a country trying to join for the first time, because we were stupid enough to choose to leave. It was a hard, painful and destructive process that the EU will not be keen to ever repeat.
celticdolphin.bsky.social
I’m using judgement, considering we need unanimous agreement of all EU members to join.
Obviously to rejoin we would have to show considerable long term commitment and long-lasting majority public opinion in favour of rejoining on considerably less favourable terms than we did before.
celticdolphin.bsky.social
The problem when you announce policies before thinking about them, but then thinking about stuff isn’t really UKIP/Reform’s strong points. It’s all about the emotional response, the hatred and blaming of “others”

Everyone in the country should know this name
celticdolphin.bsky.social
Because the EU won’t countenance us rejoining.
With Reform polling to be the next Government, there is no chance.
All the time there is a good chance we will leave again why would any other country let us join?
Even to gain much closer ties we will have to accept FOM, I doubt that will come soon.
celticdolphin.bsky.social
Those responsible for wrecking the country, lying about the false benefits of Brexit, causing huge financial harm to us all, should be held responsible and held to account.
By “preserving Brexit” do you mean actively pursuing to re-join the EU (pointless at the moment) or to gain closer ties?

About time those responsible for dragging us out of the EU, removing our EU citizenship and wrecking our country, all to promote their own personal ambitions, were held to account.

The Tories are heading towards extinction because once you've fed voters with enough far-right poison, they vote for the real fascists, not your pale copy. They vote for the leaders, not the Tory followers scrabbling along after them.

You defeat fascism by fighting it, relentlessly, tooth and nail.
