A successful grab the kinglet balances a bug on its slimy tongue before swallowing.

As the tide goes out the Bay of Fundy leaves behind large mudflats. Here a heron flies over a large rock outcropping in the bottom of the dried up ocean. The heron has mud caked on its feet.

This Belted Kingfisher's life takes a turn.

This kingfisher twists as it decides to take a hard turn. It wings frame its forward facing head as its body rotates, exposing its belly, feet and slightly spread tailfeathers.

A juvenile Bald Eagle is not so "bald". The young have a brown head and eyes, unlike the white head and golden yellow eyes of the adult. The outstretched wings are cropped in this photo to give a better view of the head, feet and feathers.

Love the way leucism has "coloured" this American Crow. Leucism is actually the absence of colour pigment.

A normally all black bird this crow has no pigment in some of its wing feathers. In this example the symmetry of the missing pigment is so perfect it looks like this is the way a crow should be coloured.

A Blue Jay perches on a branch. Its crest is down which indicates it's feeling relaxed and its throat is bulging. Blue Jays have a throat pouch which can stretch, similar to a chipmunk's cheeks.

The Herring Gulls head is framed by its two wings, beak opened so it can reposition a small fish in preparation to swallow it "down the hatch". The gulls beak and the fish cast a shadow on the open wing as the reflected light strobes off the water's surface.
