Remember when I said I was done with Aldhelm? Ahahahaha. Oops.

After I finished this article, I promised myself that I would never work with 30 manuscripts in a single article again. And yet here I am, dusting off my 'The Transmission of Bede's Hymn on St Æthelthryth', which features a whopping 170 manuscripts...

Absolutely delighted that my article on the textual transmission of Aldhelm's Carmen de virginitate is now out in the most recent volume of Mittellateinische Jahrbuch!

At the bottom of the graphic, white text on a green background reads, “Visit our website to learn more: rarebookschool.org/about-rbs/employment”.

"Oh, so you are still using your bizarre scroll? I just bought the newest technology, a printed book with a binding, wanna have closer a look"?

Academic small talk back then, #academicchatter.
Detail from a title page of an early modern medicine book ("Spiegel der artz||ney/", VD16 F 2877) featuring two men looking at each other. The one man is holding a bound book, and the other is holding a manuscript scroll.

Ray, do you have more images of this mss? I have a theory about it.

Definitely some Insular influence, particularly with the g letterform. The d is also slightly similar to some of the Breton corpus, too

When I started BretPal (almost two years ago 😪), I had one very clear research goal: to establish parameters for Breton Caroline minuscule
