The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has been placed in the best-performing segment of a new national ranking system for NHS organisations in England. We also achieved the eighth best score nationally out of the 134 acute NHS providers that were assessed.
Clatterbridge patients are being asked to take part in a research study designed to improve the care and treatment of autistic people.

Clatterbridge has named Prof Tim Maughan as its Director of Clinical Research.

Prof Maughan, Chair of Oncology at the University of Liverpool, takes over from Prof Christian Ottensmeier in overseeing clinical trials and other studies.

Patients starting chemotherapy, immunotherapy and similar treatments with us can now attend pre-treatment groups explaining what to expect.

Angela attended and said: “It was a really useful session. It encouraged me to feel more positive about starting treatment."

The Cancer Vaccine Launch Pad, which CCC is part of, will expand and Stuart Kingston said: “I was successfully treated but some people aren’t so lucky, so any new clinical trials people can access will give them hope for the future.”

A Clatterbridge patient has welcomed an NHS initiative to give more people with head and neck cancer a chance to join a pioneering clinical trial.
Sharon had CAR-T therapy, an innovative form of immunotherapy, to treat her acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. She says: “I’m so delighted this treatment is now available in Liverpool. The team at Clatterbridge are amazing.”

Our pioneering MSCC service is singled out for praise in the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) annual report. MSCC is a medical emergency that can occur when cancer spreads to the spine and puts pressure on the spinal cord.
We are delighted to announce that Dr Caroline Brammer will be our Interim Medical Director with effect from Monday 4 August.

Caroline is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in head and neck cancer, and is currently our Associate Medical Director for Radiation Services.
