Absolute disaster-class of a half from Simons.

Wow
She's a super exciting player. Loves to carry and dribble and will attack any available space (inside or outside). She really plays without fear. She's got "that dawg".

Still lots to develop (esp defensively), but her ceiling is so high. One of the most dynamic Swedish players I've seen tbh
I look at Arsenal signing Hincapie, and that *really* feels like a profile Liverpool could've gone for.

Add in the signing of Frimpong on the other side, and I can't really make sense of it.

Defensively both are downgrades from what they had last season, and neither seem to fit the structure
Esp since it seemed like the opposite was what Slot wanted from his LB based on how Robertson was used last season. He was often a LCB/LB hybrid who's attacking contributions mainly came through deep passing, rather than final 3rd play. Main problems were his defensive deficiencies imo.
3 goals conceded over 9 games is unreal stuff
And just to be clear:

I wholeheartedly agree. It's pretty nasty and uncomfortable that kids are being written about in this way. It's a massive problem in sports.

Kids aren't being allowed to be kids.
Genuine question: how do you create systemic change for stuff like this?

Because imo there *should* be enough journalistic integrity where you don't write stuff like this about literal kids, but there's wayyy too much money at stake and idk how you would change it on a national/global stage.
Love you other Gabi
Still can't decide if he's actually my new favourite in the squad, or if my feelings are just amplified based on who played that role before.

He's incredible tho, regardless
I feel like a majority of the issues any team can ever have is midfield rather than defence/attack.

I mean, if a team is conceding chances like crazy, I'm usually looking at the midfield. Similarly, if a team isn't creating enough, also looking at the midfield.

Midfield so often gets overlooked
That sequence is honestly my favourite moment of the season so far.

It basically encapsulates everything we were missing before in an attacking sense.

And I also just adore Zubimendi. Spanish midfielders are *chef's kiss*, my god.
Chelsea Dagger also just hit different when it got played during Chicagos dynasty years...

That was a different level of humiliation
I do find it kinda endearing nowadays tbf - one of those things that's gone full circle for me

But I never once thought I'd hear in football. I mean, goalsongs isn't a thing in football, at least not in Europe.

But Chelsea just had to do it, and it was only going one way then, I suppose.
2 weeks on from interacting with Arsenal fans basically saying it was over, we're now top of the league. Liverpool were clealry bound to lose games.

And yeah, I'll still say it: it means almost nothing to be top now. It means slightly more now than last week, but it can still swing wildly.
No WAY that Chelsea have a goal song, and they actuallu chose Chelsea Dagger...

The single most annoying song in North American sports (looking at you Chicago Blackhawks).

Why did they have to bring it to football? 😫
Is he ever going to complete a 90 in the PL at the Emirates?

Feels like he's cursed at this point. Also such a shame as I thought the opening period with him and Eze floating around looked quite promising.
Not only is he crazy good, but he's also so fun to watch.

And quite odd. His running and dribbling style has always looked weird to me, but it obv works.

I hope Bournemouth do something crazy this season
Yeah, I do think opposition too often gets missed when talk about "boring Arsenal" comes up.

Whilst we've def changed since that "more fun" 22/23 season, teams are often extremely careful against us.

This current iteration is also just so insanely stable - there are very, very few weaknesses
Arteta will be annoyed at the amount of shots we allowed for sure, but prob could've won that by 4 or 5 on another day. Those chances you mention, plus a few good looks for Gyökeres
Imo a big plus with Gyökeres is not only that he seems too be using his body better now than in the first couple of games, but his touch seems so much cleaner. It's been better and better.

Tbf both of those could also just be fitness related, but it's great to see nonetheless.
Does he still pronounce the second n in Nwaneri with an ñ-sound?

I've heard so many English speakers do it, and it's so annoying
It'd be a pretty sick 5D chess move to prove the insanity of that government and this whole thing...

... if it wasn't, y'know, Tim Dillon
And as you've brought up many times: ball striking must be severely negatively impacted by injuries/fitness.

Last season, I'm not sure we ever saw a fully fit Ødegaard. And last season was by far the worst I've seen his ball striking be.
Ik this was a Gabi focused post (and holy moly what a freak he is lol), but I also think there's been a myth thrown around some Arsenal fans that Ødegaard has poor ball striking/delivery

It may not be Saka/Rice level, but it's still top.
Moment of the game tho:

*that* pass by Zubimendi
