The troops had risen the peace flag. Armistice Hour. Soldiers laid down their arms as the healers and clergy entered the silent battlefield. After each active combat session, the healers picked up the dead and wounded, the monks and nuns read the last rites to those who lay dying.

My favourite scene in 'Anne of Green Gables'? By far:

I'm reading "Heart of Darkness" thinking how the African natives must have felt. Their lands probably meant everything to them. All their history, their memories, their stories and lives had taken place there. It was home... Then like demons Europeans arrived... It must've felt like the apocalypse

War and peace: The youthful, the beautiful, the majestic, most gentle emperor

Me: ....is he? *quick google search* I mean... there is a pleasant expression on his face but idk. He just looks like a decently pleasant but ultimately average man to me?

The squires had never seen this many women in camp before. Girls were bringing in the laundry bags, pouring them out to sort clothing into piles for laundry, fixing and discarding. Women were sitting together, chatting while fixing holes in stockings, breeches and even saddle bags and backpacks

Of course, a skilled healer knew that by reversing their healing magic, they could slowly deplete somebody of their Mana until death was imminent. The Gentle Death was all together not talked about but used when a patient lingered in severe pain with no chances of improval such as wounded soldiers

All I could imagine upon reading the words "French pancake" was the French army screaming "Vite! Literally! Donnez-nous des crêpes!"
(Hurry, hurry! Give us the crêpes *as cannon fodder) .w.

We had a guest speaker from the US today who talked about Disney appropriating culture, folklore and fairy tales. It was such a good lecture, I felt sad when it was over :)

'War and peace' is really testing my meagre French skills, my goodness.

Sometimes I feel like i say dumb white ppl things, small ignorant things showing my whiteness and privilege, I guess and then I grow angry with myself like: "why am I saying this?! I *know* x,y,z and I should be better than that" and I suppose i just have self loathing times today

Sometimes when I'm home in the village I look about at these brilliantly green meadows, at these gently rolling hills, at the rivers with water shimmering like steel in the sun. I never get tired of that sight. It makes me glad to be alive and to be able to experience such beauty

Welcome to day 19,000 of feeling tired because crusty old men with ego issues are in power and we have to be scared of ww3 every day simply because one of them might have their feefees hurt one too many times. How do you do? ✌️

So, the EU is currently a nut inside a nutcracker operated by a wannabe Napoleon in Moscow and a wannabe Shitler in Washington. Nice.

On land her body was, slow, but with unwavering patience she reached her goal. There was a small hollow spot between two rocks. She supposed that the flyers had made their nest there at some point. From it she pulled that object which had fascinated her. Drawings. There even was one of a mermaid
The mermaid slowly made her up ashore, sand rubbing against her elbows. She was wary, though not too conscious of her surroundings. After all, this island was little more than a rock protruding out of the stormy sea. Never before had she seen any legling here.
Her tail was a shimmery yellow.

I can't stop thinking about the purported drug smugglers being murdered by the US military. The punishment for drug offenses isn't the death penalty. This is just bloodlust and men in suits playing with lives they don't care about. It's truly grotesque and gravely compromises this country.

Ok, as a German, it gets a bit bamboozling when it comes to the differences between British and US formatting, punctuation, etc. For me, I learned British English at school but then later it got jumbled up with American media consumption and American teachers so that now I throw it all together...
