Dè tha dol Bluesky?

I work for a conservation organisation in the Southern Uplands of Scotland, where we are restoring nature on a landscape scale.

One of my favourite current projects is the restoration of a wood pasture with a number of ancient trees which supports a wild array of wildlife.
I'm grateful for many things, including hedgelaying.

We've had fun laying this 12 year old mixed species hedge, which encloses an orchard on one of our sites.

I'm hooked now, speaking of which, if anyone has any old billhooks laying about, send them my way!

Nominative determinism always cheers me up, so I enjoyed seeing this forested scene by Elizabeth Hazelwood yesterday (on display at Perth Infirmary)

Great opportunity to spend (a lot of) time with the wee trees 🌳

(Tangentially related, is Betula nana Scotland's cutest tree? 🤔)
We're recruiting for an exciting new #PhD project in #mountain #woodland restoration! "The genetic diversity & adaptive potential of mountain birch in Scotland for high-altitude nature recovery" hosted by CEH, University of Stirling & Forest Research.
