Is it because you can't [or won't; no judgment] swap to Win11, or because you can't enroll in Windows's Extended Security Updates (ESU) programme for whatever reason? (I can't be assed to switch OSes at present and enrolled for ESU while I consider my Linux options, software parity be damned.)

Tatsu wears a lot of stim aids, including bracelets (which he either bites or stims with), his wedding ring (which actually has baubles that he can stim with), finger guards (so he doesn't pick at his skin/bite his fingers), and sometimes a necklace with baubles for stimming as well.

Okay one last thing: Day 9, inventory.
Nami is asthmatic, so he carries around his inhalers, his asthma action plan, and his spacer. He also carries around a medical card with up-to-date information on his vaccines and STI status, because it's his way of being a responsible adult. +
catatante.bsky.social
Hiroshi is skilled in cooking. Food was the thing that kept his mind preoccupied from the constant pain that he felt, and so he became a nutritionist: travels across the archipelago for meal planning. His only real weakness is his body-- but he does indulge in gossip, like the other Zhōu siblings. +
catatante.bsky.social
Tatsu's hyper-fixation is law. His weaknesses are that he is blunt, touch-and-food-averse, prone to his BFRBs, keeps himself isolated from everyone but his employees and live-in nurse-slash-wife... Besides that, he is a *very good* politician and legal counsel: he just needs help to communicate. +

Hana's skill-set is in speaking-- she's *really* good at it! She's also an avid player of video games, as she used them to learn how to work her chassis. Her weakness is, well... she's conceited. She deals with problems without thinking about its consequences in the far future, only the near one. +
catatante.bsky.social
Ren's skill-set is in her job: massages and acupuncture! She also is really good at administering medications, since she did it for Hana. Weaknesses: forgetful (often on purpose), annoying (on purpose), a gossip just like her fùmŭ. She also enables bad behavior, because she thinks "it's funny". +
catatante.bsky.social
Nami is... I can go on about him. Skill-set: sailing, singing, performing, playing his games (the tile, dice, and card ones). Weaknesses: emotionally unstable, distant (to his family and intimate partners), clingy (to Kiri only), risk-taker. There's a lot more but I'm keeping this safe for work. +
catatante.bsky.social
Kiri is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, dance, and playing instruments (though the latter she doesn't like doing much, due to family pressures). Her weakness is the fact that she is independent: she hates being helped. She also has a tendency to give up easily *because* she refuses help. +
catatante.bsky.social
Umetarō is a very stubborn man, "accidentally" prejudice due to tradition, and somewhat dense. He is a strong leader, both as a house head and a head priest.
Ichigo is also very traditionalist, but they're a push-over. They are very skilled at priest activities, and enjoy doing them. +
catatante.bsky.social
Xiānlì is an expert forager, herbalist, and advisor. Their weakness is that they are gossip-prone, and can't keep quiet about it.
Na-rae's weakness is that she's a push-over. Her skills are in house-keeping and cooking (as those were her only "hobbies", due to growing up poor). +

Day 11 and 12: Skills and weaknesses. My do these eleven have a few of them! I'll try to summarize, just to end this thread.
Chihiro's skill-set is in foraging and making baskets, trinkets, and nests. Her weakness is the fact that she needs to be regularly "caught" for vaccines and body check-ups. +
catatante.bsky.social
To summarize Day 8: Ichigo is very humble, quiet, keeps to themself; Kiri is giggly, helpful, gentle; Nami is cocky, stubborn, moody; Ren is mischievous but caring; Hana is conceited; Tatsu and Hiroshi both have chronic resting bitch-face, but Tatsu is micro-managing and Hiroshi very methodical. +
catatante.bsky.social
Batch Three has the "hurt boys": Tatsu is autistic (with a long history of BFRB issues), and Hiroshi has chronic pain that has yet to be pinpointed. Every single picture of them in adolescence has them looking irritated (to the amusement of the other siblings). #OCsky #art +
A drawn photograph of "Batch Three" (the last set of children born from Umetarō's spouses) in their teens, which includes Tatsu [right, he/him] and Hiroshi [left, he/him]. They are "posing" for the camera in their school uniforms, as it is their first day of secondary school. This posing looks more like a candid photo, as Hiroshi is leaning his head against a palm (as though he has a headache) and Tatsu has his gloved fist up to his face as he holds an elbow.

Tatsu is wearing an orange kimono, black hakama, and a blue obi with a band and clip on it. He is also wearing black gloves, to keep himself from biting his fingers. Hiroshi is wearing a simple blue Ru garment with pulled cuffs with black hakama.

There is text (and a bit of art) scribbled on pieces of tape put onto the fake photo, in a magenta ink. The statements on the image are less in-depth than the others, with the comments only coming from Nami, Ichigo, and Ren. Tatsu's half of the image is written in Japanese, whereas Hiroshi's half is written in Chinese.

Nami says "Tape... cool", with a drawing of him putting a thumb up; Ichigo says "Eeeeeh, good luck Tatsu-kun", with a drawing of them with a small smile. For Tatsu, Ren writes "scary...", with a drawing of her looking neutrally with a hand to her face; for Hiroshi, she writes "good luck, little brother", with a drawing of her putting a thumbs up with a pinched-face smile.

Other pieces of tape are slapped onto the fake photo. Pain lines come out from Hiroshi's back, a heart hovers over Hiroshi's head, and an angry vein mark sits right next to Tatsu's head.

Batch Two contains the girl-bosses [light-hearted]. Ren is the family nuisance, and Hana is very conceited (thanks to her condition inadvertently inflating her own ego). Ren, however, takes care of Hana, partly because she's able-bodied and partly because Nami kept picking on Hana. #OCsky #art +
A drawn photograph of "Batch Two" (the second set of children born from Umetarō's spouses) in their teens, which includes Ren [back, she/her] and Hana [front, she/her]. They are posing for the camera in their school uniforms, as it is their first day of secondary school.

Hana is dressed in an orange kimono, blue under-kimono, and an obi with a red sash. She is sat in her wheelchair, belt across her lower body to keep it stable, one hand on a wheel. Ren stands behind her, dressed in a blue kimono, round-rimmed glasses, and with a bag over her shoulder. From her bag hangs little character charms of her favorite pop group.

There is text (and a bit of art) scribbled on the fake photo in a magenta ink. No spoons to grab the text word-for-word, but the right side of the image has words for Ren written in Chinese. Her fùmŭ is telling her to have a good day at school, and to watch on her little sister (to which Ren responds "okay, Fùmŭ"); Nami writes "Don't die", which Ren responds with "I appreciate you". Hiroshi writes "be careful", which Ren responds with "ok" surrounded with a heart.

The left side is written for Hana: it is full of Japanese writing from Ichigo, Kiri, and Nami, as well as a small thing written by Tatsu and an affirming thing written by Ren. The former three tell her "good luck", but Nami ends his in "bachan" to tease her. Tiny chibis show Ichigo holding a thumb up with a soft smile, Kiri holding a thumb up with a pinched kitty face, and Nami drawing his cocky side-eyeing face with a tongue out. I can't recall what Tatsu is saying (but it's distinct from every other word on the page), but the hearted statement from Ren says "so, let's go!"
catatante.bsky.social
Batch One is full of the gender deviants. Ichigo is trans-femme, Nami trans-masc, and Kiri bigender. A *lot* of the family issues hinge upon these "sex and gender deviants" in some manner; nevertheless, Kiri would be the most beloved (and Nami the least) of this trio of siblings. #OCsky #art +
A drawn photograph of "Batch One" (the first children born from Umetarō's three spouses) in their teens, which includes Ichigo [back, they/them*], Kiri [right, she/he/they], and Nami [left, he/they]. They are posing for the camera in their school uniforms, as it is their first day of secondary school.

Ichigo is wearing a white outer-kimono, blue inner-kimono, and orange hakama; Nami is wearing a blue haori, orange kimono, and black legged-hakama; and Kiri is wearing blue legged-hakama and an orange jeogori.

There is text scribbled on the fake photo in a magenta ink. Henohenomoheji-style self-portraits are drawn next to their written names in Kanji. Whereas Ichigo's is in full hiragana, Nami and Kiri's are in katakana-- in reference to the fact that they're mixed.

Kiri's self-portrait has ク characters for her layered hairstyle, テs for her eyes, a モ for the nose and a フ for the mouth: written out, it would be called a "kukukukutetemofukuku". Below her name and self-portrait, Nami writes: 「オンちゃん、何 だ よ。」 with a disappointed face. Below that, Kiri responds: 「何 か。オレ ガ コワイ。」 with a star-eyed kitty face.

Ichigo's self-portrait has り characters for their bangs, のs for their eyes, a し for the nose, and a く for the mouth: written out, it would be called a "rinonoshikuri". Below their self-portrait, Kiri writes: 「かわいい♡」, replacing the period with a heart. Ichigo responds: 「どうも、おんちゃん。」

Nami's self-portrait also has リ characters for his own bangs, but they're very long. He uses a ロ for his mouth and topknot, マs for his eyes, and a ム for the nose. Written out, it would be a "riromamamurori". He proclaims proudly under his name, 「ボク ガ スゴイ ダ。」, to which Ichigo replies next to it, 「そう、そう。」

All of the siblings are categorized in "batches": to make things simpler, each parent would end up having a child around the same time. This means that Ichigo, Kiri, and Nami are in Batch One, Ren and Hana in Batch Two, and Tatsu and Hiroshi in Batch Three. Their temperaments, thus, are grouped. +

Na-rae is based off the dog (which, in my con-world, are Gryphons). She is loyal to the family, making sure that everyone is well-fed and happy, and that the house is properly maintained. She is the mother of Kiri, though has raised Hana and Tatsu for Chihiro (due to Chihiro's neurodivergence). +
catatante.bsky.social
Xiānlì is based off the pheasant, as they are visually striking. Being genderfluid, they swap presentation depending on the climate. Hot weather brings out their masculine, platonic mannerisms, and cold weather brings out their feminine, romantic ones! They're the fùmŭ of Nami, Ren, and Hiroshi. +
catatante.bsky.social
Chihiro is based off the monkey, as she lives in the woods; she is a very to-the-earth person, lives amongst the Gryphons in the Iwasaki Forests, and communicates in her own gestural language. (Though she understands Taitaugo, she has total mutism.) Chihiro's the mother of Ichigo, Hana, and Tatsu. +

Day 10: Umetarō is literally a riff on the story of Momotarō, if the name doesn't give that away. Though likely unaware of it, he was adopted: his parents found him outside in the snow, a Gryphon curled around him. His spouses, very vaguely, symbolize Momotarō's animal companions as well. +

This means that they are coded East Asian, but there's a twist: the seven Iwasaki siblings have three mothers, as their oyaji is polyamorous (four are mixed). They were all born in Toshu, and three of the four parents were born there too (Kiri's eomeoni, Na-rae, was born in Wolgyeong.) #OCsky #art +
A drawing of Kiri's oyaji and his three wives. There are text boxes above each of their heads, which list their given name, height, and family name, with their names written in their indigenous scripts.

Umetarō [162cm, family name Iwasaki, house head] is a coded-Japanese man with light-brown skin, black hair and eyes, and a beard with sideburns. He is fat, and is sat on the ground in his kimono. Despite looking forwards, he is having a conversation with his second spouse.

Chihiro [162cm, family name Yamada], sitting to his left, is a coded-Japanese femme with light-brown skin and black hair and eyes. She is wearing a combination of kimono and hakama, and has her hair down and messy. They sit cross-legged (and armed) on the floor as they look over to Na-rae.

Xiānlì [174cm, family name Zhōu, listed (though now inaccurate) courtesy name Zĭshēn)], knelt behind Umetarō with their hands on his shoulders, is a coded-Chinese genderfluid person, with tan skin and black hair and eyes. They are dressed in masculine hanfu, with their hair in a topknot. They're looking at Chihiro with a grin.

Na-rae [165cm, family name Gwan], sat to Umetarō's right, is a coded-Korean woman with pale skin and black eyes and hair. She is plus-sized and is dressed in hanbok, with her hair in a braided chignon pinned in place by chopsticks. She smiles at Chihiro slightly.

Day 7: all of these characters live in Ooshima, an archipelago off the Ceresian mainland. (It's all worldbuilding, baybee!) They are a country of three provinces, allied long ago. These provinces are inspired by China, Korea, and Japan, respectively, including their indigenous! #worldbuilding #art +
A crop of a work-in-progress map of my conworld, showcasing the Ooshiman Archipelago (named here "The Daeseom Islands", as the place is called many names). The archipelago has three larger islands, and a scattering of many smaller islands around them.

In the center is the largest island, called "Wolgyeong"; it is slightly moon-shaped, which is where it gets its name from. The name translates into "moon capital" from its Sanja-designated name.

Below Wolgyeong, to the south-east, is the island of Toshu, which visually looks like it had separated from the Wolgyeong landmass long ago. The name translates to "east state" from its Shanji-designated name.

Above Wolgyeong is the smallest of the three major landmasses, called Anshandao. It is almost shrimp-like in shape, and unlike the other two islands has a lot of little islands scattered around it. The name translates into "peaceful mountain island" from its Shanzi-designated name.

Part of the mainland civilizations' names are visible, such as Cánh Tây Nam (another civilization in Ceres) and Ishtar (a civilization in the neighboring contenent of Hebe).

For #bweirdOCtober I wanted to combine "development week" to catch up, so let's go!
Day 6: I have a *lot* of family and friend groups, in my OCs. This is because people who get married often have families! For my sanity, however, I'm going to focus on the Iwasaki family. #OCsky #art +
Alt text: an illustration of the Iwasaki siblings. Above each of their heads is their birth order, Taitō name, that name's kanji, their height, and a transliteration of their name. At the bottom of the image, it says: "Iwasaki-Yamada [岩崎-山田], Iwasaki-Kwan [岩崎-管], and Iwasaki-Shū [岩崎-周]".

Starting from the left of the image:
Ichigo, first-born, 173cm, dressed in a white kosode and red hakama. Their long hair is down, with bangs on each side of their head. They look to their left as they grasp their own wrist.
Hana, fifth-born, 168cm, dressed in a green kimono and metallic earrings. Her hair is up in a bun, which is wrapped in a ribbon and pinned by two metal chopsticks. She is looking to her left, annoyed, with crossed arms.
Tatsu, sixth-born, 160cm, dressed in an orange kimono, and black-striped orange haori. He has a fist up next to his face as he looks to his right with a pressed brow. His hair is short and sweeps left.

Kiri, second-born, 171cm. Daeseom-eo transliteration of name: An'gae. Daeseom name: Ga-eul. She is dressed in a blue kimono, a silver medallion holding her obi together. Her hand is behind an ear, and she looks to the left with a smirk. Her hair is short and whorls clockwise.

Nami, third-born, 153cm, with half of his name highlighted to signify the Taitō name, as his Dàdăo name is two characters. Dàdăo name: Língbō. Courtesy name: Shòucháo. He is dressed in a dark-blue kimono, white hakama, black haori. He has a hand up to his face, and looks at the viewer as if questioning. His hair is short and sweeps right.
Ren, fourth-born, 163cm. Dàdăo name: Lián. She is dressed in purple kimono, and is gripping her fingers in front of herself. Her hair is half-up, half-down, with bangs in the front. She stares neutrally forwards.
Hiroshi, seventh-born, 174cm. Dàdăo name: Yáng. Courtesy name: Zĭxiáng. He is dressed in yellow kimono with a black obi. His hair is buzzed, his face is pinched, and he looks to his left as he holds his shoulder in pain.
