Albert Parsons, hanged in their company, had been a literal confederate soldier before spending his entire adult life fighting against everything the confederacy (and, frankly, the union) stood for. He was shot registering Black voters in texas. He was also probably kind of insufferable.

We've spent too much our energy learning all of the ways everything we do is bad and wrong, and not enough of our time identifying what is good and worth nurturing in each of us.
