@smibbo.bsky.social does reviews. I have a lot to say. most reviews are pretty short. "shows" are shows that run for seasons "series" is an episodic movie

My favorite movies:

Run Lola, Run
The Fountain
Jacob's Ladder
Everything, Everywhere, All at Once
Enchanted!
Barbie
The Wicker Man (original 70s)
Old Boy (original S Korean)
Star Wars (all of them except PM)
Peter Pan (2003)
Children of Paradise
Harold and Maude
Los Olvidados
Princess Mononoke
variation: I have probably hundreds of registrations at websites and socmeds that I will likely never visit again because I have a unique username (for the past 20+ years) that I don't want anyone else using. If you see a "smibbo" somewhere on the internet, it's most likely me.
just FYI: when I asked Alexa, she said "Old Man's War movie; plans are underway". When I asked if Steven Spielberg was involved she said "sorry, i don't know"
Alien v Predator
i don't care what everyone says, I loved that movie!
I now own two bras by Body and Bra. They are my favorite bras. I bought the first 2XL (I am a 42D-DD) and it was wonderful but quite.... easy? So I Bought a second in XL and it is exactly what I hoped for: a bra that holds everything where its supposed to be, but still flexes

it doesn't work that way; plenty of kids will survive getting the childhood diseases and be just fine. So that will be "proof" for the anti-vaxers. SOME kids will not be "just fine" and their parents *might* change their tune. a FEW kids will die or be permanently affected
why would he resign? He thinks it's better for kids to get "childhood diseases" than vaccinations
it's the media; they constantly badger candidates for their positions because htey know its polarizing. Dems generally give some mild "everybody deserves rights" answer and Repubs freak out with all kinds of scare tactics.
excuse me you appear to have it backwards: pecans are acidic walnuts with the flavor of dirt

If you don't think they will ATTEMPT to bring back racial discrimination, then you're just willfully ignorant. Because they're already trying and have been for a while. They are becoming more brazen and more forceful. The blatant moves are just months, maybe weeks away.

It's already on the way.
Trump’s pro-apartheid pick made clear this regime wants a return to the heyday of Jim Crow in this country.

This nomination comes days after the regime urged MAGA justices on SCOTUS to destroy the Voting Rights Act.

What we fail to reckon with and repair from our past, we repeat.
So you should really watch this. Just 2 minutes. But a window into the truly radical nature of the people Trump is nominating.

When pressed today, the nominee to be Ambassador to South Africa refuses to oppose reinstituting laws to prevent black people from voting in America.

The Rehearsal (MAX) S1
HOLY COW
starts as an odd idea for a reality show becomes a bizarre meta journey through the internal landscape of the narrator/director. You can't get comfortable: it flips, goes meta, pulls the rug out. Then when you give in, it breaks your heart

if you play "six degrees of Ru Paul": I went to high school with him and we were actual friends. I can't say anything else about our connection but there's one of your degrees.
Weapons (theaters, rental multiple streams)
more spooky than horror. Not a lot of gore but what there is is pretty nasty; easy to look away. The ending was not very well executed and so predictable that the tension was lost when The Moment came. Not as good as Barbarian

Barbarian (Disney+, Hulu)
that was horrifying, no doubt about it. I screamed so loud two of my kids came out of their caves to check on me. They thought I'd seen a roach the size of a horse or something.

The Smashing Machine (Theater, Josh Safdie)
(NOT the doc)
very well made. The story is a bit spare, but the acting makes up for lack of script. Worth 2 hours but not phenomenal.

But I love your phrasing; when I saw the ad copy *before reading your comment* I thought I was having a migraine seizure
the main reason I never tried being a copy editor: this shit would drive me to drink
The Life of a Showgirl - Taylor Swift
Great lyrics. Tunes are not bad. No hooks. The music behind her singing makes it sound like a backing track, like she was planning to fill it in later with a real band. The singing is low-effort. It's not bad, but it's ultimately forgettable

but you know, if you wanna stay mad, have at.
I got on a server too. Then tried to find people, communities etc. Then every couple of days I'd check it again. Too much looking just to find people. THere's other options you know. I'm still on Dreamwidth and started a substack.
