Cora finally agreed to using the stirrups, flipping her voluminous skirts over Anvil's tail. Ruskin bounded, nipping at a cord hanging off one of Alexander's bags. Riley smiled, feeling the bunching muscles of Sugarsnap's haunches beneath her. It was the ride she had dreamed of taking.

The Duke had loaded them down with food for the road. Lissie listened to him tell the story the night before to his guests. None of them seemed to care much. Cora was paraded around like a prize, the Daughter of Lady Llanarth that had caught the killer. It was a spectacle.

Each housed a workshop. Some open to the air, with workers at lathes and anvils. The longer they rode, the more industry they saw. The sounds of trip hammers rang through the air, powered by waterwheels.

Lady Maribelle ascended the Guest Bedroom stairs, previously the Dungeons. She and Dottie had already stripped the Bulwark Coveralls off and been doused in vinegar. It seemed the whole castle smelled of pickles.

People waved and cheered as she passed.
Riley and Cora were wearing tunics made of leather and soft cloth. Mostly white, but with beautiful tiny beadwork around the neck and sleeves. Riley felt naked without her sword belt. She asked, "Where is Sugarsnap? Is she safe?"

As promised, Alexander set up his tent in the pooling darkness. Riley called Cora to help her gather firewood. She did not miss Cora's glance back as they walked away. Riley said, "I see you're enjoying your new traveling companion."

It's hard to say since I've never read the Batman comics. I think the villains mentioned are quite esoteric. Not movie villains. There has been no mention of the Bat.

The proprietor of the store was an immaculate woman. His eyes searched her for perfection, for symmetry. Not a single freckle out of place on her golden skin. Her dark hair was parted down the middle as if by a razor. Her eyes were the absolute mirror of the other.

I am a big fan of never buying myself shoes... So my husband has to buy me new boots. The pair I have now had people asking me on the street where I got them. I know we couldn't afford them.

The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley has my favorite description of beauty I've read. The plot has time travel entirely overshadowed by stellar characters. This book is for anyone that wishes they could interview a 18th century Arctic explorer.
