As one of them, I left enriched, as there is so much that we can learn from the emotional and individual approach of the Filipinos,” says Šimon, Head of Sustainable & Safer Gambling.
📢“Sessions focused on prevention and treatment provided by the support structures, but also by the industry. It hosted a selection of international speakers from around the world to enrich the discussion...
✔The second annual conference, which focused on gambling and gaming harm, took place in the Philippines with strong support from the local regulator (PAGCOR) and the Quezon City municipality in Metro Manila.
Simon Vincze says:
"The system of support structures in the UK and progress made in effective approach to gambling-related harm is now crumbling due to the ideaological and political demagogy.

I would have never thought it would come to this."

Based on our experience, the more clearly we explain how games behave, the less room there is for confusion or frustration. And that helps everyone.
It appears that volatility isn’t just a background setting. It’s part of the experience. And when it's unclear or missing, players are left to guess… and they usually guess wrong.
RTP is usually easy to find. With volatility, it depends. Some providers include it, others don’t. And even when it’s there, the scales differ. One provider’s high volatility might be another’s medium.
From an industry perspective, we know volatility drives these swings. But how often is it clearly communicated? And maybe more importantly, how often is it even visible?
It makes one wonder. Do we really understand how important the volatility still is?

Many players believe that betting more gives them a better chance to win. So when that doesn’t happen, especially during long losing streaks, it doesn’t always feel like variance. It feels unfair.
While drafting a post to help players avoid common misconceptions, especially the belief that higher bets increase the odds, something else kept coming up.

Volatility.

Not just as a game feature, but as something that quietly shapes how players perceive fairness, risk and outcomes.
Chasing losses or withdrawals, as well as coping with stress through gambling, is dangerous. People who are stressed, sad, angry, or even bored often make decisions they wouldn't normally make. That can lead to spending more money, chasing losses, or taking bigger risks.
Prediction gambling sites give a problem sports bettor nearly infinite wagers for a single topic the bettor is fixated on trying to solve. More control over wagers due to "cashing out" at any time & the peer-to-peer competition of it all can make this gambling even more addictive.
For years, responsible gambling efforts focused on raising awareness and placing the burden of self-control on the player. But this approach has its limits. Now, the industry is shifting towards safer gambling, where operators and regulators are increasingly responsible for preventing harm.
We’re committed to making online gambling safer, fairer, and more transparent. Through education, advocacy, and initiatives like these awards, we highlight those who push the industry forward.
