This week’s message:
Oppose a Blank Check for the White House
The Republicans in the Senate refuse to negotiate on reinstating popular ACA tax credits for Americans, and health insurance premiums are about to increase 2-4 times over. As the shutdown continues, Federal workers have been laid off from essential departments like Education and the CDC. But Republicans demand that Democrats blindly sign the current House-approved funding bill claiming they can negotiate after the government reopens. Democrats have been burned by these empty promises before. Reopening without real negotiation gives a blank check and provides Trump unilateral budget control. This is unconstitutional as the power of the purse lies with Congress alone.

Action: Call your Representatives, Senators and Governor to say you and 78% of Americans want to see ACA tax credits expanded for Americans and that using Federal workers as pawns is reckless and inhumane.
Maryland Note: Senators Alsobrooks and Van Hollen, and many of our Democratic representatives have all vocally stood up for expanding the ACA tax credits and condemned the Trump administration for using Federal Workers as political collateral.
Reminder: if you live outside MD-4, -5, please do your own research on how your elected officials are meeting expectations on these messaging storms. Give credit and criticism where due.
