Copyedited chapter & book both arrived this morning: one expected, one had been dormant for almost 2 years. Like waiting for a bus 🚍 🚍

The International Marching Song of the Revolutionary Proletariat. One of those random discoveries in a bound volume from the @britishlibrary.bsky.social

Of course I was at the @rcmlondon.bsky.social for their #Boulez100 celebration with the Paris Conservatoire - wonderfully vivid performance of Dérive, loved the new piece by Hanze Liu

Haha! Fantastic if crazy idea that would never happen nowadays...

I had a fantastic time at the Berwick Literary Festival: lovely audience, very interesting questions & lots of enthusiasm for Satie!
Thanks to Cian (pictured) for chairing. @boydellandbrewer.bsky.social

Glorious day in Berwick: walk along the town wall to the coast AND my #Satie book in the local bookshop ahead of my talk tonight @boydellandbrewer.bsky.social

Satie thought that he and his comrades could do the job just as well.'

Re the current French political turmoil, this is from my book on #Satie: 'The Third Republic (1870–1940) was a politically unstable period of French history with constantly shifting coalitions and no fewer than 87 prime ministers, some of whom were in office for only a few weeks.

Curtain call after #Boulez explosante-fixe with London Sinfonietta & George Benjamin - scintillating sound projection & triple flute incantations

Typically adventurous programme from @apartment-house.bsky.social , especially liked Luc Ferrari, a welcome blast of funky craziness in the @wigmore-hall.org.uk
(And I didn’t know that Ferrari studied piano with Cortot)

Ooh! Very sorry to miss this one

Yup, I suspect because it’s a German publication. I like the translation credits to Paul Claudel and Martin Luther

Definitely two voices with (mostly) very distinct parts!

carolinefrmus.bsky.social
#Milhaud De profundis for organ and 2 voices was always going to be a sight-reading challenge at the piano - the worst bit by far is the mezzo being BELOW the baritone in the score 🙃

Also I’ve never knowingly used ‘finely wrought’, not least because I’m unsure what it means
