There's a lot of talk about the steaminess of #HeatedRivalry, but there are more reasons to watch. Jacob Tierney's direction and the microexpression work of the actors is sublime — especially as mainstream American-produced streaming prioritizes "passive viewing."

If I have the chance to talk to Morgan Spector about #TheGildedAge, no matter how long it’s been since the Season 3 finale (that almost doubled as a series finale, apparently), I’m gonna take it:
'The Gilded Age' Is No Longer a Show Where "Nothing Ever Happens," Says Morgan Spector: "The Stakes Are Life or Death"
Morgan Spector discusses the darker direction of The Gilded Age Season 3, George and Bertha's complex marriage, and the show's real-world parallels.

There are lots of angles to the Netflix/WB deal, and plenty of reasons for concern. Media consolidation? Not great! That very significant caveat aside, there's reason to be hopeful that maybe the Netflix-HBO of it all will be... not bad? Up now at @vulture.com

Maybe Netflix Will Be Good for HBO

If you’re wondering why no one’s been saying anything about The Abandons until now, it’s because the Netflix western that Kurt Sutter abandoned himself during filming is… not very good at all:

Despite strong performances from Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey, Netflix's The Abandons falls short due to plodding pacing and uneven storytelling.

God it was lovely to watch Heated Rivalry and see a TV show using sex (good sex! not miserable, punishing sex that everyone hates!) to advance the story and character development. storytelling through sex is so fun and so good when it's good, and there are so many ways to fuck it up. I love romance.

Name keeper here! It really hasn’t impacted anything, especially since I’ve kept my own last name for professional reasons. (But also, once I do take the steps to change it legally, I’ve already decided to hyphenate.)
If you are getting married soon and on the fence about changing your name, my vote is for keeping your maiden name! Not because of the risk of divorce (though there’s that too), but because it’s a PITA with no tangible benefit. Change it socially but not legally, if you want.

I know not every TV critic is familiar with the trappings of the romance genre, but I’m tired of the implication that sex can’t be an important plot driver for individual and shared character development.
but this? shut the fuck up. guess what, my man, gorgeous young 22 year olds like to fuck. And queer people deserve love stories that are sexy and horny. a "chaste kiss" please be for real.

I profiled the phenomenal Rosamund Pike about playing the #NowYouSeeMe franchise's newest villain, why she's still grieving the end of #TheWheelOfTime, and the roles she's gravitating towards next — although she'll always be interested in more provocative characters:
From Bond Girl to Diamond Queen, Rosamund Pike Still Wants To Provoke You
