Fluffy lived with us in our cells, until they were taken away. The kitten gave us purpose beyond ourselves and showed us we could still be compassionate.

when my cousin was incarcerated, I had the idea that I should start taking photos of scenes from my every day life to share with him. I wanted him to see some of the things I was seeing. I didn't end up doing it because I was worried about making him miss home more, but now I wish I had

I visited California Medical Facility last summer and spent time with hospice patients and care workers in the garden there. it's hard to overstate the power of nature and outdoor spaces in people's lives
