Book #14 of 2025:

Siddartha by Hermann Hesse

This was the last of the required readings for the PewDiePie book club.

It was a good one to end on. The story of the man becoming enlightened by finding his own way stuck with me

It shows that there are more ways to find wisdom.

Video Game Review:

Hidden Folks

Where is Waldo style gameplay where the entire scene is in black and white.

The clues are well written and easy to understand. The environment is very interactive and makes finding the people very fun!

Would play a sequel of this with more maps.

Book 13 of 2025:

Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche

Nihilism doesn't really compute with me. I may need to read more to grasp it. This book did not quite cut it though. I was unsure what was being said most of the time.

Video Game Review:

Monument Valley 2

Still the same gameplay of the first one. Loved the idea of controlling two characters at once. The story was much easier to follow this time compared to the first. Truly have become a puzzle game fan! Great for starting out in the genre.

Video Game Review:

Monument Valley

One of the classics of mobile premium games. Played the game a long time ago but didn't remember anything from it.

Loved the use of perspective to solve the puzzles and the subtle storytelling. Will have to complete the rest of the games soon.

TV Show Review

Big Brother (season 27)

The cast on this season overall was annoying. No one wanted to actually play the game minus a couple of people. Keanu was my favorite!

I do believe that the winner did deserve to win. It showed how jury management is so important.

Video Game Review:

Strange Horticulture

This game has a nice combo of cozy and spooky that is perfect for the coming season. I have decided that I am a puzzle game player.

I like the Papers, Please style of gameplay where you look at stuff on a desk to solve the puzzle.

Movie Reviews:

Robots

Another movie that I loved as a child. Now watching as an adult it is insane the amount of grown up jokes and themes that this movie has. It's also another movie where the voice cast is insane!

Multiple parts of the movie made me laugh out loud!

Book #12 of 2025

What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami

I have been a runner for a few years now. I felt this book was very cathartic in that I have a lot of the same thoughts when I am running. It inspired me to want to do races of my own some day!

TV Show Review:

Batchelor in Paradise (season 10)

The visual quality of the show increased. I don't feel like the money part added anything to the show. I did love the addition of the Goldens. Very funny.

The person doing the names next to the people deserves a raise though.

Book #11 of 2025:

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

This month the PewDiePie book club had us read any classic. This one had been on my list.

The world building is truly second to none. And the way that this future seems plausible gave me chills. I think everyone should read this.

TV Show Review:

Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser

Watched the show growing up. Didn't think about how bad it was then. Being fitness industry adjacent, it's easy to see how bad it was. The doc did a great job of showing just how bad.

Also good that it was short watch.

TV Show Review:

Perfect Match (season 3)

This may be the dumbest and horniest show that my wife and I watch. The entire time I couldn't believe just the true messiness of the people on this show.

Still it was very entertaining and did exactly what it was supposed to do. Distract.

Quarterback (season 2)

I was already a fan of Jared Goff before watching this and now I am an even bigger one. It was also interesting seeing Kirk Cousins' mindset as he was going through his season. I also have a new found respect for Joe Burrow.

Video game Review:

Pokemon Alpha Sapphire

Played the original Sapphire on GBA when I was a kid. I wanted to relive that with some of the improvements of the modern Pokemon games.

The gameplay is still solid I like that they fleshed out the story. The mega evolutions were nice!

Book #10 of 2025

Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle

The next book from the PewDiePie book club.

I will be honest, I only really only paid half attention to this one.

Nothing really stuck out to me when reading this. I just wasn't in the place for it.

TV Show Review:

Secret Level (Amazon Prime)

Short story series where each episode is based on a different video game.

Overall the animation quality of each episode is insane. The actual episodes themselves are hit or miss.

The Sifu and the Warhammer episodes were my favorite.

Book #9 of 2025:

Differently Morphous by Yahtzee Croshaw

Imagine magic is discovered to be real but everyone becomes very politically correct about it.

The writing is very clever and very modern. The story does a great job of making you like the least likeable characters ever.

Book #8 of 2025:

The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins

Had another open month on the PewDiePie book club. This book had been mentioned to me by so many people I felt like I had to give it a read. I really enjoyed the content of the book. It can get a little self-helpy but still good.

Balatro

I had heard all of the hype around this game and decided to try it myself. I totally understand why this game was a game of the year contender. The gameplay is simple but complex. I am hooked and will be playing this one for a long time to come.

Book #7 of 2025:

The Republic by Plato

The next book in the PewDiePie book club. This was a hard one to get through. I feel that the way it was set as a conversation between Socrates and others threw me off. There were some parts that did stick with me though.

Video game review #3 of 2025:

SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated

I played the crap out of the original game on PS2. This remake really does that justice with some small quality of life adjustments. They really need to make more games like this today.

Book #6 of 2025:

The Enchiridion and Discourses by Epictetus

This is book 4 of the PewDiePie book club. This was one of the classic stoic teachers that I had not read yet. The message of letting go of things not in your control really hits these days.
