I am so proud of the work my colleagues and I do at Rewire.
But by our calculations, management gave themselves $942,817.55 for their 7 salaries, and allotted $464,373.70 for our union's 6.

We are so disappointed by this and we want more equitable pay. Details on that below ⬇️
Since we last shared an update on bargaining, we’ve received additional information about management salaries at Rewire.

The TLDR: The pay discrepancy between management and union members is deeply unsettling.

The irony of the current public health regime trying to falsely link childhood vaccines to autoimmune disorders is that they are attacking research that acknowledges gender...when autoimmune disorders primarily impact women.

New from @cameronoakes.bsky.social: On Dec. 5, 2025, a CDC panel voted to end the blanket recommendation that all newborns receive the hepatitis B vaccine, undercutting public health gains of the past 34 years.
CDC Committee Changes Newborn Hepatitis B Vaccine Guidance
The ACIP committee cited misinformation to suggest that the benefits of the vaccine, which prevents liver disease and cancer, may not outweigh the risks.

In 2019, 117 women who were infected with Hepatitis B gave birth in Tennessee, according to the CDC.

The state’s overall infection rate more than doubled from 2006 to 2013, according to a state viral hepatitis report released in 2023.

Update: The rule change process is now beginning in Florida to lift some school vaccine mandates, but does not appear to be final. The state Dept of Health confirmed with me yesterday that it will hold a mtg on Dec. 12 to get public input on the policy; emails can be sent to [email protected]
Tomorrow Florida will stop requiring kids to get vaccinated for chickenpox, hep B & other viruses. Kids (and I say this w/love) are adorable disease vectors. Classrooms are petri dishes. This first-in-the-nation policy is about to make things way worse--esp for certain families, says Erica Halbert.

Read @juliametraux.bsky.social's latest. The findings are concerning on their own, but are amplified by the fact that many workplaces rely on freelancers for basic functioning.

When I worked at NBC, many roles were required to be a contractor for a year before being eligible for benefits.
For @motherjones.com, I wrote about what's at stake for chronically ill contractors and freelancers as Affordable Care Act enhanced tax credits expire.

The CDC tracker now says 960+ people exposed to H5 (usually farmworkers) have been tested since March 2024. So 80 people were tested in the last few days, or the tracker wasn't updating for some time. (I'd guess the latter)

Glad to see SOME testing. Unfortunately, the tracker may not be reliable.
According to CDC's tracker, about 870 farmworkers had been tested for bird flu between March 2024 and March 2025. Another 10 were tested in April. Zero since then 🙃
