I do commissions, but I try not to follow simple conventions sometimes.

Original calligraphy (pre-computer or digital) lettered on a single sheet of Canson Blue paper with pens and brushes, with gouache and watercolor.

Let me get you started. Calligraphy is about written letters (done beautifully or expressively). But we must begin. We start with the Italic "hand" or style*. Here are some exemplars and you can use a Pilot Parallel pen or a larger fountain pen.

Recently taught Letterform Invention class. One of the prompts I give is "Two Lines Interacting."
I have taught this workshop for about 15 years. I usually start with Capitals; however, in this class, I decided to work with minuscules. I found it more challenging. Students did well with it.
