Unlike a certain previous game where I had a philosophical reason to never use the super mode ever, in this one, I just never actually encounter anything that warrants having to use my mega evolution... unless I just want to speed through faster for funsies.

Every now and then a random trainer or an alpha pokemon tries to intimidate me, and I have to remind everyone there is nothing in all of Lumiose City that's scarier than me, and that includes gods and monsters.

I just walk through wild zones radiating "You're trapped in here with me" energy.

It's a shame it's impossible to have a nuanced discussion about Pokemon, or really anything. New game isn't bad, but definitely has some major issues and a lot of wasted potential. Shame the only valid opinions on anything on the internet are be a hater or pretend its above critique.
